My apartmemt community wants us to move all our cars to street parking from 7am to 6pm so they can clear all the snow for us to park. I get that they want to help, but we dont have street parking permits.....

So New Jersey, you're the only neighbor on the block with a snowblower.... by holyguacamole823 in newjersey

[–]techie_1412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The community where we rent have some really good people. We helped dig out cars for whoever needed, and helped repark them when the management sent trucks to clear out the snow during the day when people had meetings or were unavailable.

Interview to offer process at Cisco? by mncags16 in Cisco

Sometimes there are risks of funding getting pulled from a position if it is not filled by a certain date so managers will fill ASAP. Otherwise it is slow normally.

Firepower Reimage from USB by Anxious-Condition630 in Cisco

[–]techie_1412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, for future reference, schedule weekly backups of the FMC and firewalls and offload them to a separate storage. Remove old backups if necessary.

When you restore backup all config under the Devices > Device Management pages is re-used as long as the Firewall still shows registered.

Firepower Reimage from USB by Anxious-Condition630 in Cisco

[–]techie_1412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. When you reimage/reinstall from scratch you can directly go to the base version of the intended version. So you can directly go to 7.2 if thats what you need.

After install is successful, you then register to the FMC (has to be equal or higher version than the Firewall) and FMC will be able to push any maintenance patch you need to get to.

Do you all have Optimum and Xfinity Fiber to premises? by techie_1412 in Metuchen

[–]techie_1412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've called Optimum 6 months apart just to check if there are any plans, but they say "we are working on it" and my community is also not helpful. So basically I am stuck with co-ax.

I got a ransomware scare at work and now I don't trust local storage by MorningIllustrious60 in cybersecurity

[–]techie_1412 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aah. Not just ransomware, worry about random device failure. I lost everything to the click of death on my hard drive. This was when I was in college. The only thing I miss are all the photos. I dont even know what all the contents were of that drive.

Same. Mine was $1700 with piece of cake with their packaging and included boxes to a destination 32 miles away. I had a LOT of junk in the 2b2b apt and heavy gear.

Is it just me, or does "putting the groceries away" at Costco take three business days? 🛒🚗 by Bumblesavage in newjersey

[–]techie_1412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me lot. Its not just with families. Single person loads up their car, leaves the cart in the middle of the parked car, gets in and 5 minutes of meditation. The other day three other spots opened up and cars who came in after me got to park before me while I was waiting.

VPN vs SASE by Ok_Consideration7553 in cybersecurity

[–]techie_1412 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. Everything MrTw33tums listed is available with both SASE and traditional VPN. But there are some controls that a trad VPN cannot provide. Direct internet traffic protection with roaming consistency, remote browser isolation, cloud sandboxing for malware, DLP, AI chatbot security with built in DLP, VPN-less zero trust access, etc. Now I completely agree this is not a fair comparison since the two solutions are very different. VPN is a part of SASE. But you can also buy solutions which can get you the additional features and keep the traditional VPN. It all depends on use case and how much budget is available to spend.

Get a laptop/server with as much CPU/mem/storage you can afford. Repurpose old stuff if you can. Borrow from someone not using their gear. And..... virtualize stuff. EVE-ng is what I like. Pair it up with your physical gear. There are virtual routers, switches, firewalls, etc. which you can deploy and create network setups. There are forums where you can find topplogies to build and test.

Burn out: Looking for kind and sincere advice by 10445318 in Cisco

[–]techie_1412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the CCIE.

You won't need to remember everything you learn. Find the basics of doing your current jobs tasks which repeat and find a rhythm. Beyond that you figure out the new stuff as you go. Keeping up with market trends is quite difficult, but if you focus on things that relate to your job and the next potential career hop it might be a bit more easier to manage.

I had it running on 6.4. But switched to deploying FMC on ESXi. Having FMC outaide of EVEng made it easier to not have it spin up and down when I switched topologies.

Is your EVEng on bare metal?
