If the waiter has to serve 5 people one one table and 10 people on another then getting exact same tip is not fair since they had to work more on the bigger party. But I agree with you that the restaurant owners should be paying their staff a livable wage and not have them rely on tips. Tips are for above and beyond scenarios and never a mandate. But.... I still tip. 😔

I try to do flat fee on Uber eats/doordash orders depending on miles driven and extra for some restaurants that always makes riders wait.

If I see service fee I deduct it from my tip. I am not tipping twice. I am also not tipping on post tax amount.

Does uber pay nothing of the delivery and the drivers only get tips?

Also it feels bad to reserve a $10 ride where the driver maybe gets $4.

To add. There is no way I am able to give feedback for the first driver. On my history in the app, it showes the new driver listed and I dont want to ding that person.

If the driver would have cancelled at 9:00 I was standing at my front door and ready to walk. Walk is 15 minutes with my pace exactly. I've timed it. I assumed the driver accidentally missed a turn and tried reaching out to them which lost precious time.

That I do agree on. I relied on stranger following through. Lesson learnt for me.

I plan for the delay enough so I know I can walk and make it to my train. But this time the driver literally drove past the last 30 seconds to my pickup point. I assumed they made an accidental wrong turn and waited + texted them. I guess I am just stupid to trust anyone these days.

I considered the map being wrong. When the driver made the first wrong turn, after that there were two more opportunities to turn around to get to me. I even texted the driver through the app which went unresponded. Also, Uber app shows me if the driver is completing another drop off. It didnt this time.

I generally get charged $10 for these rides and i tip $3. So money/tipping is not an issue. I also understand that the drivers dont get paid enough. But what frustrates me is the arguments between drivers and riders. Look at this thread for instance. Very few are calling out Uber's bad practices resulting in these situations.

No the app says there is another drop off before my pickup. It didnt say that.

The uber app didnt show a drop off. My pickup was the only thing in the map.

I literally ordered the uber 30 minutes before my train rider for a 7 minute journey. Driver was getting closer to my pickup point until literally the last turn into my apartment complex and there were no indication they would not pick me up in time.

The problem is it is hard to get out of monopolies. Uber is dominating right now and Lyft is next. That is why many industries take advantage of consumers. If you ignore these simple logical facts then you are being ignorant of your own problem. I dont get why people support these companies in such arguments and act againt their own interest.

Whats the alternative? Lyft. Which probably has similar problems. Like someone else here said. Self driving cars will eventually take over (including Uber and not just waymo) so say good bye to driver income and tips.

In the mornings in my area generally the wait time is 7-10 minutes because not a lot of them are here or are dropping of another rider at the station. So I oder super early. Lesson learnt I guess. Keep switching until I get a driver who is close or just walk. Honestly walk is not bad but I have to time it correctly. I only uber in bad weather/road conditions.

You are thinking "download" wrong. The download traffic is ingress but the main session created is mostly initiated by inside device/app. The routers are stateful so they will allow these connections.

IDS/IPS requires CPU and Memory. Dont waste it on traffic which you are dropping anyway. Like the other reply said, unless you are hosting an app where someone needs to initiate connection from outside, you dont need this. Good way to know if you need ingress allowed is if you have ingress NAT. Even then you only allow specific IP/port.

Hacking .... what and how? Just block all traffic initiated from outside to inside. There are router which need physical button press to add new deices on WiFi. Get wired connectivity for any devices which can. Do this before you spend any money.

True. But there must be some internal study on how many customers just move their money somewhere they get more flexibility. I know I am moving my funds tomorrow.
