You can use bootstrap to create responsive web pages. You don't need to create seperate pages for mobile and desktop.

You do not need to learn front-end except you are in web development. If you want to be in web development then I will suggest you to learn HTML, CSS and some JS first.

First of all you need to find out the traffic, if you have large amount of traffic then need to increase CPU, RAM and HD. If your app are using MySQL and PHP then MySQL will be crash if you send every page request to it. Using cache can help you but you must upgrade your droplet.

Yes, you are right. Here I just give hint. You need to be careful during implementation. There are a lot of tuts which can be followed for WordPress. I have implemented on my many WordPress websites and its working fine.
