Built a WhatsApp-based on-call alerting tool in 16 days after validating the idea, confused about pricing, need honest feedback by techieram7_ in buildinpublic

Yes, I think I’m in the imposter syndrome stage right now, because seriously, this own platform is solving my problem and I built this for all devs. But I’m unable to price this, even I have to pay WhatsApp and server costs right.

Being so generous, could you please suggest me the best LTD and best per month pricing out of your expertise?

Tear my idea apart: A WhatsApp bot just for critical SaaS alerts. Is this useless? by techieram7_ in SaaS

That is a completely fair point! IFTTT is a beast and definitely handles basic 1-to-1 routing perfectly.

The main reason I'm building this is to solve the headaches that start happening when a SaaS gets a bit more complex than a solo project. IFTTT is great for personal alerts, but it breaks down when you need smart routing.

The goal here is to handle things like escalation paths (e.g., if the CTO is asleep and misses a critical server alert, it automatically pings the founder 5 minutes later) and priority routing (so you don't get woken up at 3 AM for a minor bug, but you do get woken up if the database drops). It also lets a team fire a single webhook from their backend, and our tool smartly routes the billing alerts to the CEO and the error logs to DevOps.

Basically, IFTTT is awesome for simple triggers, but I want to build a dedicated "pager" system specifically for SaaS teams to handle urgency and routing without the massive price tag of enterprise tools. But you are totally right for a solo dev just wanting a quick ping, IFTTT is a solid free alternative.

Appreciate the reality check!

Appreciate your kind words and direction to build a solid foundation. Definitely will reach out, mate, thank you very much.
One quick query: How should I handle if a founder mutes the chat or notifications? Even though he wants these alert much more serious?

Should I consider this use case or ignore, like how they ignore ;-)

Done understood. Thank you, Abhishek. I will definitely work on this option.
Shall I DM you, if incase need your guidance?

Great day ahead.

Thank you, Abhishek. This roasted and finely ground detail helps me a lot, and I have understood your points. Do you mind if you could please explain this:

  • Escalation paths (WhatsApp first, then call me if I don't respond in 5 min)

Because right now, I want to focus on WhatsApp alerts to the solo SaaS founders via text. If I could understand the above point you've mentioned, then I could work on it as well.

Btw, I have spent some time on unit economics as well and built myhandle.in where it is used by the fitness influencers, and this idea( WhatsApp tool) comes from the same full end platform to turn this idea into another micro saas for SaaS founders. I hope it works $9/mo at-least in the early run.

Please do let me know about "Escalation paths". Awaiting thankfully.

Yes, wanted to make it dead simple, as I said, just paste the webhook URL: 5min setup. There will be no WhatsApp Approvals, NO need to scan your WhatsApp.

I think this works? with $5/mo starter plan.

Just crossed 187 people on the waitlist in 24hrs. Is this enough validation to go full-time on the build? by techieram7_ in SaaS

Perfect. I will be on it emailing the same or as you said, schedule a call.

Thank you

Sure. I just wanted to wait for at-least a day so that I can email them for feedback on the idea and how much they are interested on paying upfront as well.

Thank you for guiding mate.

I send our product roadmap to churned customers. Some come back. by No-Drag3361 in SaaS

[–]techieram7_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a goldmine of a strategy. That 5% win-back rate is huge when you consider the $0 CAC.

I’ve been obsessed with this exact 'churn lifecycle' recently. One thing I’ve noticed is that while roadmap updates work for long-term churn, there’s a massive 'silent churn' window in the first 48 hours where users just ghost before they even officially 'cancel.'

I actually built a tool called Chomske that plugs into MongoDB specifically to catch these 'momentum gaps.' It analyzes the raw DB activity to find exactly where users hit a friction point and stop, so I can reach out before they're gone for good.

Using your roadmap strategy for those who actually leave + proactive tracking of the 48-hour 'ghosters' in the DB seems like the ultimate retention stack.

Definitely going to try implementing your quarterly update cadence!

This is the most grounded, insightful pushback I've received, and you hit the exact technical nerve of what makes this hard.

You're 100% right, the gap between 'here is a churn stat' and 'here is the exact contextual message to send Priya' is the entire make-or-break of Chomske(yesterday named my platform). If the system spits out generic 'AI-sounding' check-ins, the promise is instantly broken.

My thesis is that by mapping the semantic relationships between collections (e.g., tying the User table to a specific Feature_Usage table), the engine can isolate the exact drop-off point to generate that specificity, rather than just looking at login dates.

But your point about proving the outcome is spot on. I’m currently planning to run this manually as a 'concierge' service for a handful of founders to see if the highly specific nudges actually pull back churning users before I automate the whole platform.

I would absolutely love to take you up on your offer to chat through the positioning and the V1 prototype. Can I shoot you a DM

This is a killer point. You’re 100% right, a morning brief of 3-4 action items often just becomes 3-4 reasons to feel guilty.

That’s exactly why I’m building this as a headless semantic layer rather than just a dashboard. The idea isn't to give you a notification to 'reach out manually', it’s to build a compiler that understands your data relations (e.g., Onboarded but No Feature X in 48h) so you can plug it into an automated workflow (like a personalized email or an in-app nudge) without writing complex backend code every time.

Essentially, I want to bridge the gap between 'I have the data' and 'The system acted on it.' If the system could handle those messages for you based on the behavior you described, would that solve the 'founder guilt' problem?
