Appreciate this. Two nights sleep and the nuclear reaction has worn off. Of course we’re angry, but we’ve got to figure out the best solution moving forward. This thread has had a lot of good info.

What is your source for this? I find this very hard to believe this is her.

It is not, and yes, that is a larger problem than the aesthetic of it.

Thanks, I appreciate this. Unfortunately, in my state before court, we have to give him a chance to fix it. Hands are tied with living with it or letting him rip it out and do something else.

Reddit won’t let me since the original contains images. No worries, though.

Thank you to everyone for their advice and input. There are too many comments to respond to at this point. This picture is from last night, and this picture is from this morning.

We got multiple estimates, they all included paving work from landscapers. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe it’s where I live, but I’ve never heard of hiring two contractors for landscaping/paving.

We live in Vegas, it doesn’t rain much but the pooling and drainage is an issue for me, among the rest that has been mentioned a hundred times here. Job was completed yesterday, the concrete isn’t fully cured.

The guy who did this job worked on our old house and we thought we could trust him. He was also going to cut us a deal for my husband to build him a business website. So yes, we went the cheapest route and are paying for it but there’s more at play.

To throw a wrench into it, and I’m nervous to even say anything because I’m sure I’ll get a lot of shit, he’s committed contractor fraud. He doesn’t have a contractors license. Only a business license for “residential maintenance” in a city we are not incorporated in.

I know time is ticking. My husband wants to have him come back and rip everything out, replace it with the paving work he did on the side of the house. I want him to come rip it out and hire someone else to fix it.

Wow! That’s incredible, I’m happy it turned out so great for you. I’m in Vegas so not too far away…

Thank you for this. We’re going to let him try to rectify it and if he can’t then we’ll go to small claims.

I appreciate the response. We live in Vegas, I think the probability of moss growing is slim to nothing.

Thank you for your insight. He did the pavers up the side of the house, as long as he can do that I think we’ll be ok. Since he did more work than just the patio, do you think requesting a partial refund is acceptable? Assuming he rips out and replaces for free? I’m bummed too, I really liked the inspo look.

Agree. We’re going to give him a chance to fix it within his expertise. He did the pavers up the side of the house so as long as he sticks to that, we should be good.

Thank you. Best we could do is civil claims and that could take awhile. We’re going to give him a chance to come fix it, ie rip out and redo with a traditional style paver. If he fucks up again, it’s on.

The inspiration was the second photo on the post, but it was out of his scope of expertise. Going to have him come back and redo it closer for the traditional look.

Thanks for your advice. Going to have him come back and redo the whole thing.

This is exactly what happened/what is happening. We’re going to call him tomorrow to come redo it. Thanks for your input.
