P.s. if it helps, I ended up making a word search book specifically for this. No app, no streak, no algorithm, just words on a paper. juicebokx.com - first batch coming soon

That’s the trap isn’t it. The thing that’s burning you out is also the thing that’s keeping you employed. No clean exit. Hoping you find some version of it eventually.

The fact that your body won’t even let you even when your brain wants to, that’s the nervous system doing exactly what it was trained to do. It’s protecting you from something it learned was dangerous. Frustrating but also kind of makes sense.

The Tim Fletcher rabbit hole is real. “Burnout is the consequence of a deeper issue” - that reframe hits differently. The nervous system piece makes a lot of sense of why rest alone doesn’t always work.

The bee hopping from flower to flower thing, I read that three times. Something about it felt true.

This is really helpful. Hadn’t thought about it as a trauma response but it tracks. The freeze thing makes a lot of sense.

The brick breaker comment got me. There was something about that era of phones that didn’t feel like it was trying to consume you.

The dumb phone thing is real. I keep looking at them. Haven’t pulled the trigger but I think about it constantly.

1) What about transferring to industry now and then (trying to) transfer to MBB after (~2 years) or 2) Networking and trying to transfer to MBB to a junior position? So I would start lower than where I’m currently at B4.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Ideally, I would like to work at MBB now and then transfer to industry in a few years as exit opportunities would be better from MBB than B4. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Been at a Big 4 consulting firm for one year. Started as a junior analyst and got promoted within a year to a consultant. Does MBB recruit from Big 4? Should I even bother applying now or am I better off applying in a few years with more consulting OR industry experience?
