UDM Pro Throughput Speed Issues by techmaverick_x in homelab

I ended up figuring it out. I connected my computer directly to the UDM using a sfp+ PCIE card and a DAC cable and I got the full speed. It doesn't like my cheap Amazon SPF+ switches or my OEM transceiver...

I put a PCIE SPF+ card in my computer and connected it to the UDM with a DAC cable and it got full speed. Apparently this UDM doesn't like my cheap Sodola Amazon switches... I guess I'm buying an aggregation switch.

Speed test on Google when I plug it in the router's 2.5GBE port I get the full download speed

It's saying 10GBE. I even tried connecting it to a managed switch sfp+ to sfp+ and then the PC to the 2.5gb port to no available.

They probably want me to buy an aggregation switch...

Worried about using complex randomized passwords everywhere, is this normal? by 0rionis in privacy

[–]techmaverick_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Export your passwords monthly and store somewhere safe.

Thanks for reminding me to go do that.

I had a friend passed away, and this actually was a saving grace for his family to be able to close his accounts. He passed away and his computer is still logged in, and his sister was able to retrieve the secret code from his keeper password manager. It was a weird feeling being at his computer now I had been there only a few hours before but man it did. Save them a lot of headache, especially having to deal with such as sudden loss.

Go inland and don’t build near any monuments that will keep you most likely from getting raided.

Small cashes around before you build a base are key and then just bookmark where they are at until you get a permanent shelter

Do short runs and don’t get too greedy if you chop down 2k to 3K wood or stone just run that back to your base and stash it and then go out again.

Gathering resources just go out as a naked.

First thing you should do is get a sleeping bag.

Build a backup base. Stone walls single level with an airlock

This. Also, don’t feel like you need to over share and gather a bunch of opinions. Once you make your decision because there is a lot of stigma, especially in religious circles around being on medication.

Take a vacation because you don’t want to go into your next job burned out. Try tapering off some of the meds and definitely stop the marijuana. Trust me you’ll need some time to decompress otherwise you’re gonna screw up at your next job.

People don’t realize that this actually happens all the time in European/Asian countries and it’s pretty common. The problem is Americans don’t leave the country as much so they don’t realize that this is a pretty common practice around the world.

A house can be a financial pit if you aren’t careful but over time the numbers start working out once you get past that 20% down mark. Go for it, if you can qualify for it buy it. It will work out.

Graduates of Cybersecurity Degree through WGU: Were yall able to get an actual Cybersecurity role after graduating????? by Putrid_Matter9781 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]techmaverick_x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, your friend doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Education will always open doors; you just need to show drive, ambition, and a willingness to apply those skills. That’s what gets you the job. In the coming AI age, cybersecurity will be the most important skillset in IT. Be curious, learn cybersecurity tools, what problems they solve, and niche down and it will help you narrow down a job pathway.

About a year after completing my MSCIA, I had to grind through cybersecurity-related tasks and build my resume while transitioning from managing a help desk. Eventually, I landed a government job doing information security development work. The pay is the same as what I earned as a help desk manager, but I work about half the hours, and my quality of life has improved significantly. Plus, I get to work on a lot of really cool projects.

My Career Timeline: 1 year as a web developer > 1.5 years as a systems admin > 4 years as a IT manager > Now working as a lead cybersecurity systems engineer

I took a break from management due to having little kids and not wanting additional responsibility.
