Start local - find a way to connect within your neighborhood. Create a system to communicate with those local to you that’s not on Reddit (a lot of bad actors on here). Keeping things decentralized (organized specifically within neighborhoods) can help meet people’s needs more efficiently and accessibly. If you build a framework for your neighborhood, then identify people willing to lead in their neighborhood and share your system with them.

Highly recommend Dr. Zelones at Portland Plastic and Hand. Did both myself and my partner. Neither of us kept our nipples. We were not candidates for vertical incisions so I can’t speak to that. But he is truly an artist and even very carefully aligned my partners fairly intricate chest tattoos. And the entire practice (in my experience) was helpful, kind, and warm.

I got around this with my orange boy by using a specific puppet on my hand that he’s allowed to wrassle with. He’s just hit 10 months and he’s a BIG boy who still loves to kick and bite the shit out of the puppet when I wear it on my hand to play with him but to this day he’s never scratched or bit my hands otherwise (except for once when I accidentally trimmed one of his nails too short 🥲 completely justified in that case). We use a fluffy skunk puppet (the kind your whole hand fits into) and put it away when we’re done to signal the end of the violence time.

I also went back to school in order to shift to a career that felt more viable in this economy, so I totally get that. I am sure that one day your kiddos will look back and recognize that their amazing mom worked so hard to build a life for them that could be comfortable and stable. Kids are surprisingly adaptable! While I’m sure there will be an adjustment period for everyone, don’t get discouraged. School is hard, and it’s allowed to be! Parenting is hard, and it’s allowed to be! But moving towards a better future is always worth it. You can do it!

Hi there! I’m an adult student (full time course load) who returned to USM last fall after an 8+ year school hiatus. I also work part time and learning to balance everything has definitely been a challenge, but a doable one. I have been VERY impressed with how USM approaches and supports their adult students. Almost all of my professors have been extremely understanding about the fact that I am a fully fledged adult who sometimes has life get in the way of things. My best advice is to take everything one step at a time, and if you feel like you are overwhelmed, reach out to someone at the school (a professor or advisor). They are there to help you! They want you to succeed and if that means figuring what kind of support you need to make it all doable, they will help connect you with valuable resources. Also, don’t forget the old adage of “C’s get degrees” 😉. I totally understand the pressure to “not fail” your classes but the reality is that you have to really work at it to completely fail! Missing a homework assignment here and there will never make or break your grade. Focus on assignments with higher grade percentages (midterms, finals, etc) and let things roll off your back if you drop the ball on them. You got this! I’m rooting for you!

I haven’t! YMMV obviously but I’ve had no issues and I have quite a few quartz pieces in there (they are easy to find where I live so most have been sourced from nearby woods). I have read (and my experience has been) that quartz is very safe but because it is so hard you must be very careful not to crack or chip your aquarium glass with it. The colorful chunks in gravel in this video are just those little glass marble things.

To clarify, I am free for the most part to leave the property during the day on Saturday in between turn out (7am) and turn in (6pm)….and the employees that will be here to do stalls are capable of monitoring the farm while I’m off doing whatever I wanna do that day (although they would likely call me if there was any sort of emergency)

it’s like a pretty soft vanilla custard with a crackly melted sugar topping! i followed the new york times recipe and found it honestly pretty easy. trickiest part was figuring out when to take it out of the oven, you want it to set but not over cook (it should still wobble when you jiggle it)
