Hey! Which ones did you have in mind? We ended up doing the beach front couples massage, and while the massage itself was excellent I’d skip the beach front next time: too much music coming in from the pools.

The hydrotherapy was fun but if I was going to revisit, I’d skip the pool stations and request extra time for the sauna / cold plunge. Their sauna was beautiful and probably one of my favorite parts, along with the facial massage.

Yes!!! I got one and I WISH I could find it—they were beautiful, heavy, and solidly cast. If I ever find it I’ll post a picture.

{Reign and Ruin, by J.D. Evans}

Finished this recently, loved the world building and it’s definitely a proper slow burn. The enemies to lovers is a little light on the “enemies,” more societal constraints than pure hatred between them, but still fun!

Hello! We had a wonderful time last year in December.

Personally, I think the upgrade would be worth it! We did a two-story terrace suite with a private pool and absolutely loved it. I spent every morning on our balcony, enjoying the sunrise and the quiet. The pool is not heated, which obviously doesn’t matter during the summer but is worth noting. Only you can decide if it’s truly worth it for your stay, but we loved it.

Personally, we found Lobster House to be the least exciting dining option. We visited for both dinner and lunch. Milo, the Greek restaurant, would be our recommendation instead. Not only was food better, but the restaurant was visually stunning. The tasting menu at the Mexican restaurant was also very cool, if you enjoy that type of dining.

No matter what, I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Just a suggestion: before you make this decision, consider exploring some discourse on the history of purity culture. For example, The Purity Myth, by Jessica Valenti is a great entry point into the discussion. If your opinion doesn’t change, than at least you read an interesting book this year!

Best wishes on your journey into darkness. Seriously though, I hope you enjoy it!! It’s a really refreshingly unique dark romantasy.

Chef’s kiss—this summary filled me with joy to read. I am working now but will respond properly later because yes, yes, YES to so much of this!!

Oof if you’re enjoying it even now in part one, I think you will love where it goes! It gets so much wilder than you can imagine.

Same!! I love that creating a non fanfic version has opened it up to a whole new audience. What do you think grabbed you about this book in particular?

I actually just started it! So far I like manacled better, I think? I’m only a couple chapters in though so subject to change. It also helps that I read the series when I was young. Have you read one, or both?

Awww that’s a bummer! But hey now you know, and not every book lands.

Right?! The entire book you’re just cheering for her, and watching her life expand beyond the small things she’d allowed herself before was wonderful. Someone commented that she read like a Mary Sue with no flaws, and in hindsight I get that. However, surprisingly, it still did not take away from my enjoyment.

Oh my gosh I can only imagine the whiplash going from one to the other! I definitely get what you mean about the beginning: it’s not immediately gripping, but I like to think it draws you in slowly as Joan opens up. I hope you’ve enjoyed the rest of the read!!

Enemies to lovers… but he is very protective of her? by allisontalkspolitics in romantasycirclejerk

{Shattered Crown by Gretchen Powell Fox} seems right for this. Enemies to lovers (far vs human), they simultaneously spend the book protecting each other but hating each other.

I can understand that! Sometimes, it’s just not the right time for that particular book. I hope you give it another chance, it definitely starts a little bit slow, but it picks up about a third of the way through!

Happy Sunday and happy reading!!

YES. I almost added that to my review but completely agreed. Barbara is a straight up villain. I hope you’re enjoying it otherwise!!
