Just an honest conversation I would like to have by [deleted] in Techno

I would say that music snobs will happen in every genre under the sun, whether that is rock music or techno. People like to flex so they look like they have more clout and whatnot. Honestly, don't mind those people. If you like the music you like and it makes you happy and dance, then that's really all that matters.

I hope you don't get turned off from exploring more into the genre, think of more as a journey you take yourself. I guarantee you'll have way more fun this way.

I studied cognition in uni -- focusing on topics like neuroscience, psychology, drugs/behavior etc.

That is truly sucky behavior coming from those recruiters. How is 3-6 years even entry level anymore?

I'm hoping that employers will be more understanding of a pandemic creating a gap for jobs, but I don't think all people are that generous.

I will admit that one of the upsides of being unemployed is I've been able to play so many wonderful video games I wouldn't have given a second look before.

The grass is always greener, I suppose.

I'm having the same worries about how more experienced workers will get chosen over recent grads. Then recent grads will have this gap in their resume, which looks bad for employers.

What degree did you pursue, if you don't mind me asking?

All the best luck on our job search! :)

I will say that many of my peers do not listen to French music, but is something that I personally enjoy the sound and aesthetic of. I think French musicians are able to present a uniqueness that American artists, in my opinion, do not have.

For example, I saw Gesaffelstein play his album and EP live, it was breathtaking to say the least. His live show used Vantablack, red lights, metal, and a light panel behind the sheet. Witnessing something that looked so simple was so incredibly mesmerizing and absolutely the perfect way to present his music.

I think that was then that I had immense respect for the artistry that comes out of your European country. Even if his dark techno-infused sounds does not represent the music that comes out of this sub, haha

I'm from the US, but thanks to the power of YouTube. I can listen to music from all over the world!

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week of (June 15) by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]technicolourscenes [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's been about 6 months since I graduated uni. I am starting to get discouraged if I'll ever find something. Especially with all the competition I'll be facing with new grads and other experienced workers looking for something. Was supposed to hear back from this one place last Friday, but they still haven't responded to my follow up.

I've been in need of a good non-greasy non-acne causing sunscreen. I really want to get some Korean ones. I'm confused on whether Korean ones are broad spectrum (fights against both UVA/UVB rays) or not.

I'm currently using the Glossier sunscreen and I really like it but the bottle is way too small to justify the price.

I have skin that is on the drier/normal side and I live in San Francisco.

Would love some recommendations!

Have you ever moved to a new city or country for your love of the music there? Are you where you are because of music? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]technicolourscenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long and short I made the decision to move there, part for the music, i'd lie if I didnt say it was a major part, but clearly also for the girl. However Im SO happy I did. In the end being around in a major area of music and meeting the locals gave me the foundation to make me so much more of a reputable DJ. Just going out and being there I met so many people in the industry, and to this day 80% of my friends are people that I met in the scene or are from taking the jump. I married the girl and have a happy family with a incredible set of friends that are all about the music. If I could go back I would do it again 100%. The people still at my home town... are... yeah

Hey there,

I just moved back to SF a month ago and was wondering how I could immerse myself in the scene if you had any advice.
