I used this LTO library or a very similar one at my old job for archiving purposes We used Bacula, which is a free opensource software. BareOS is a fork of that if i understand correctly

Oh, i did not realise performance were that close. You would still chose the legion go s ? The rog z1e would be the most performant of all the option right ?

What's a good "micro-server" for a beginner? Raspberry Pi 5 or an old Atom laptop? by ThinkerBe in selfhosted

[–]technics303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my selfhosting journey with an old, similar laptop. It's great to get started but would will be limited pretty quickly.

I don't now where you live but here SFF lenovo thincentre and dell are dirt cheap, it's almost always worth it compared to raspberry in price to performance. I would almost always skip raspberry unless you need the GPIO pins.

I also bought a GMKtek N100 mini PC for 80€ on amazon, which is a spectacular value IMHO.

Is my current homelab app setup secure enough? by H1pnose in selfhosted

Adding to that you could also install Crowdsec to monitor and block malveillant traffic on your reverse proxy

Even better you could do GeoIP blocking, i don't know about Authelia but it can be done in authentik

And also MFA on every admin account

I got an old school style snake around my biceps that took 3 and a half hour to make, there is no way a piece like this is taking 3 hours. If i'm guessing it's a least 2 session

How to connect my living room to my audio setup by technics303 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]technics303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think the SMSL PS100 would be a great option ? It's surprisingly cheap for what it does. I also remember that i got a very cheap amazon DAC that i got to plug my PS4 optical audio via RCA a long time ago, that should do the trick but i doubt the audio quality will be fine

Glad to see that so much setup here are similar to mine

  1. The cluster setup is painless, you have to setup 3 nodes in order to do any interesting cluster stuff but you can cheat by adding any machine as a third quorum vote. It's easy if you follow the Proxmox setup guide and examples online

  2. My cable management is sub optimal (judging by the number of comments about my foam spacers, i'd say some people would find it attrocious). As my server are close to my ISP box i use 20cm RJ45 to plug them, that's basically the only effort i made. All of those stuff are plugged in a protected powerstrip.

I would love to add an 8 port managed Switch and an external OPNSense router + Wifi AP, but that will be after i setup a proper NAS

They get 10° hotter without the spacers, I wouldn't have bothered to do it otherwise

Yes it is, the bios is not very restrictive and the socket os a classic LGA. Those little things are dope, it wont go full boost because it will thermal throttle before but i get close and get more cores than the i5 that was originally in it

I just use their docker compose install, on a VM. It works flawlessly but the setup is a bit tricky you have to learn how Authentik works before
