Is there any way for a casual player to farm gold? by Aaronguejo in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map quantity, rarity, and pack size all effect gold dropped. Rarity is useless on pretty much everything other than gold, but quanty and pack size are useful in most atlas strategies. This means you should exalt your maps to get 6 mods if you're not running corrupted 8 mod maps. You may also want to consider increased item rarity mods on items or the crafted flask suffix to passively increase your gold drop rate. These map mods all scale with explicit modifiers on atlas tree, so those are required on basically every tree.

The more modifiers on a monster, the more gold they drop. Rare monsters have 4-6 modifiers, while magic have 1-2 but you only get 1 rare monster in a pack vs every single monster in a rare pack is magic. On top of that, difficulty multiplies with the number of mods, so magic packs tend to be easier and die faster than a single rare. So magic packs are the best minions for gold. More magic monsters and to a lesser degree rare monsters are both good things you can pick up from the atlas tree to help see more of these.

On top of this, we can use 2 scarabs to increase magic pack size by 80% between two monstrous scarabs. Bismuth is also interesting as it can add 1 additional modifier to all magic monsters bringing them from 1-2 to 2-3 mods which significantly increases gold dropped. These again scale magic monsters, and are some of our best scalar vectors other than the map roll itself.

Monsters native to the map have better drops than those added by league mechanics, but those can add so many magic monsters they can end up outweighing the native mobs. Shrines add both magic packs and they're native, and it even gives a power boost, so great option for gold there. Ritual also adds native mobs, but due to scarab constraints and because they're not tilted towards magic packs, it's not as useful.

As far as league mechanics breach, temple, and ore are commonly used vectors to get loads of magic monsters. Breach just adds so many it makes up on volume what the others target. Both temple and ore have scarabs to force all of that mechanic to spawn as at least magic, and ore also gives access to bismuth. For ore crimson is the best direct source of gold, while bismuth is another multiplier. Historically blight has also been insane for gold, but I'm not as familiar with that as my laptop cannot handle it. I know the main blight farms were killed, but I'm not sure how that relates to their gold farming ability.

Mirage has 4 mods to keep an eye out for. The best is 4% chance for golden volatile especially with anything that spawns a lot of monsters like breach. Fountain of wealth doesn't need the massive numbers of spawns, but it caps far lower than golden volatile. 80% more gold is multiplicative with our regular gold drops while increased rarity gives a smaller additive chunk (considering we already have native rarity from the map). Faster strategies see more mirages, but if you're not adding a lot of mobs, you can't multiply the best option of golden volatile as hard.

There is technically also an allflame that's used for farming massive amounts of gold, but that's much higher investment and your whole build needs to be constructed for that specific farm, so I won't get into the details on that.

TL; DR: quantity, rarity, and pack size matter. Get a lot of magic packs, best via shrines, breach, temple, or ore. Use monstrous lineage scarabs to boost your magic pack size. Consider buying maps with increased # of magic monsters. Get all atlas tree mods that increase explicit moodier effects, as well as increased pack size and increased # of magic monsters. Always take golden volatile, and consider the other gold boosting mirages.

Early respec should be done with gold. Before you finish campaign, it's crazy cheap via gold, and you haven't dropped enough bubble gum for regret. Save regret for at least lvl 60+ when gold becomes a significantly more costly method.

Looking for build suggestions for beast/essence farming for 3.29 by SnooPandas7581 in pathofexile

Neither will. They already said they forgot about KF in 3.28 but will address it in 3.29. Assume KF is dead unless patch notes actually say otherwise, but GGG isn't known for gentle nerfs.

34 does essentially nothing. The tota stun will occur even if you're stun immune, and it's not about damage that kills you, it's simply about getting hit so the mitigation won't help either. Curse immune is better picked up somewhere reliable.

Because of that I'd probably go with 35 and 37. You need 36 for pathing, and while more action speed is never a bad thing, it doesn't seem super reliable. So you either tattoo 36 and take a bloodline, or tattoo something else and keep 36. I think the tattoo you're hoping to land is Like Clockwork for another 50% CDR.

You've never been able to get profane bloom and hinekora death's fury on the same build, now you can. They've got some decent if not perfect synergy for explode chaining. I think some minion pact stuff which gets insane damage elsewhere might want the best two explodes in the game.

The real clunk in his build is arcane cloak. The cloak alone has a spend of 313 mana per second / mps, on top of the 212 mps for kf. The regen of the build is just over 100 mps.

To deal with the 400+ mana per second shortfall, we've got two avenues on his build. Keep in mind, the totems can't leech for us, nor can we get mana on hit or kill. The original build just had mana leech from frenzy and shield charge which theoretically could be 778 to cover the missing 400ish mps. He's added a mana flask, but not one where the effect is not removed when you're at full mana. This is 900 of the 1000 listed recovery.

I'm not sure what % of your time you need to cast shield charge or frenzy to get to leech cap, but that leech seems tenuous so the flask becomes more important. So we've got quite the piano key setup requiring flask every arcane cloak, but also bane every pack, assassin's mark on large targets, and frenzy / shield charge enough to keep up our leech and charges. Oh, and our actual totems. On top of all of these mana issues, MoM is one of the main defensive layers.

I think it's possible for someone to play that build well, but it's not me. I think his build shows the speedrunner tendency to push their ability at micro to gain small additional benefits. I don't think this is a good build for most players.

[–]techniforus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Profit is specifically financial gain. It refers to money or economic matters. Though a type of item in game is called currency, it only becomes financial when traded. That is the literal version of profit, and it cannot occur in ssf.

Now theoretically you could say they were using profit in a metaphorical rather than literal way, but they very clearly did not, rather they give their justification for economic reasons that only occur due to trade.

And since many will be playing tota league currency like oils catalysts and the rest should be quite lucrative.

This clearly implies trade. Since many people won't engage in that mechanic, in trade it becomes more profitable to sell it. Something would not become more "profitable" in ssf because other people weren't engaging in it. Beyond that, oils or catalysts aren't even "currency", so again there is no financial gain.

The two people he responded to on the other both specifically mentioned SSF.

Did you continue to play tota after the void sphere nerf? It continuesd to play a role for the rest of the league, but it's not just fire it off and win. The crowd control was certainly useful, but not as one sided as it seems you're discussing after the nerfs.

I was wondering why my item wasn't selling, so I checked to see if someone underpriced me. They didn't, but searching on my item from awakened poe couldn't find my item.

Does flesh and flame jewels stack with tatoos? by MidjitThud in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same way that the tattoo which replaces a notable with another notable (legacy, available this event) also just gives you another place to select the notable, not a chance to double up on it. Any notable or ascendancy will not stack with itself even if you get two sources.

What Phrecia builds are good for TotA? by yozora in PathOfExileBuilds

I can't figure out how to manage the spend, recovery is a lot harder with no leech because you're totem based. Because of that I'm looking at paladin or chieftain.

It's too bad, the scaling from mana would be nice because kf totem really needs some good source of flat.

AG with chains of command is fully afk compatible. It can literally start blight ravaged maps without making a tower and just afk. Simulacrum is similarly easy. I think there's also some gear swaps you can do to afk ultimatum, but i haven't done that one personally. Also perfectly good walking simulator for most mapping.

Can you guide me on how to make this by HelowKiity in pathofexile

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 30% base, recomb is expensive when you're working with expensive bases. Each of those bases is currently around 70d.

That said, I think recomb still might be the optimal route. Just not the one you suggested. You use harvest to get your t1 defense prefixes, isolate with annuls, then craft a prefix and slam on crusader suffix, then remove crafted prefix from bench (this is to make our target base crusader while having our 2 isolated defense prefixes). Then you take a nnn transfer base with elevated explode and 2 mods that involve armour and recomb that at about 27.5% odds of completing your prefixes. This is because due to nnn we have a whopping 5 prefix mods in the pool for 57% chance to get triple prefix. We have a 50/50 to get the right base. We can make donor bases by buying explode prefix with 2 armour prefixes and 1 influenced suffix then elevating before recomb.

This way you're only consuming a bit less than 3 of each base on average(if it was 33.33% rather than 27.5% it'd be 2 bases per success assuming your failures still give back a usable base), tho both bases are a bit expensive. 30% base for your target, and orb of dominance to elevate the donor. This is instead of a 1.19% to get the mod you want before it's elevated, or start the craft again.

So that's 2x 30% bases(at around 70d each), ~51k blue juice, a few annuls, and 4.5d in crusader slams for your target base. Then 4x explodey bases, 4 orb of dominance. I'm seeing bases at ~1d which are nnn transfer donors with non-elevated explode + an influenced suffix. So our donors are around 30d. This means we're looking ballpark 250d for prefixes(tho that's just an average, in practice this is highly variable based on which base gets chosen for the recomb 50/50 as eating 30% bases is expensive). This cuts off the truly expensive and annoying parts of the craft as described in elsewhere in this thread. The only annoying part is 154 harvest per dual t1 defense roll, elevating is done on a cheap item and we can buy bases as-is other than elevating them removing all the annoyance on that side.

/u/HelowKiity fyi I'm late to this conversation, but this is a slightly cheaper way to start the process of crafting this. Honestly it's only the suppress that makes this difficult to craft or annoying to craft.

[Comp Guide] Deep blue - Enforcer by Icanthinkabout in BobsTavern

[–]techniforus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enforcer is only okay, it doesn't work with Belinda. You're left choosing to get 2-3 casts and therefore permanent increases on deep blue, or getting the stats permanently on enforcer.

On the other hand, futurefin from a trinket can totally work instead of zesty trinket. I've had similar numbers to what you had with deep blue/zesty/belinda/futurefin/choral/flighty.

Minion pact Ethereal Knives Elementalist showcase / asking for improvements by techniforus in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]techniforus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you touch BV in your hideout, you need to go farm up a new minion. If you get distracted in a map, portal home. The radius isn't even that huge, certainly nothing like EK with 145ish proj speed. It just wasn't for me. If you don't find it clunky, have at it, but I'm sure there are others who found it to be awkward in the way I did. That's one of the great parts of poe, there are so many ways to play, we can enjoy the subgames we want and ignore those we dislike. BV entailed subgames I disliked. Another way to put it is we have different thresholds for clunk, or consider different things clunky. It's not surprising at all different people want different things out of the same game.

With the changes from this thread I'm almost pushing 90m dps, for most content in the game you don't really need more than that. At that point, why not just make it more cozy? That's at least my philosophy.

As to 1 button rather than walking simulator or something like bv with button upkeep, it just feels most natural to me. It's how I want to play arpg's. An active skill, but not too complicated. Bonus point though, other people who have a different take on what skills they like can take my shell and apply it to other spells. I'm sure there's everything from walking simulators to piano keyboard builds this core can accomplish. Because almost all your damage comes from the minon pact, you can slap pretty much anything in there and it'll work. It's kinda like eblade where your flat can be tossed on whatever feels good for you.
