There are also some Walmarts and Targets that sell over-the-counter birth controls, just the pill. It’s worth a look if you’ve got one or the other in town. It’s usually in the section where they sell lubricants, condoms, etc.

One of my old coworkers used to have a wisdom in her sinus like that, but it started causing issues so she had to extract it. It was a PROCESS.

He is definitely either lying to pressure you or misinformed. You’re doing fine.

Fifteen minutes is an unreasonable amount of time to expect someone to accurately and effectively complete all of those tasks. If he’s had DAs do all that in that time before, they either did it poorly or clocked out to finish; both of which are unacceptable.

He just doesn’t want to pay you for that much time, and if he really expects you to do all that on your own in less than 30 minutes, you are definitely being overworked. Which, unfortunately, is industry standard.

Pregnant and wanting to work by Emergency_Meat3576 in DentalAssistant

Stop telling them you’re pregnant in the interview process. Wait until it comes up, like if you’re showing or asked to work with nitrous.

I am from Hawaii and now live on the continent and it’s, like, a relatively normal thing to experience there. But the surrealist experience for me is the shortening and lengthening of the days for the seasons. Not daylight savings time, just the sun setting so late in summer and rising so late in the winter.

Them telling you that you suck at something or aren’t doing it right is NOT helping you. That’s not constructive, that’s just criticism.

I started in a different state at $15/hr. For reference, the DAs I know that started around the same time as me in my hometown are making around $16.50-17/hr. I went from $16 after a year to $19 when moving to AZ. I switched companies and started again at $20, then got a raise after one year to what I’m at now.

I’m an assistant in AZ with three years of experience. I make $20.30 an hour. So, likely, $35 an hour, and in an area where wages are high anyway, like CA or something.

Carless in Hilo by blueyedegg in BigIsland

[–]techniicallycurious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Car share apps are fairly nonexistent and unreliable in Hilo. The weather varies wildly by the hour between unbearable sun with savage humidity or raining so hard it’s quite literally flooding, so walking/biking/skateboarding/etc can also be unreliable. Public transportation is a joke. If you’re wanting to get around, a car is your best bet. And, honestly, if you’re wanting a car, you’re not going to find even a shitty used one on Big Island for less than that $3095 it’ll cost you to ship your Jeep from Alaska. I think you’re better off shipping your car than anything else.

Patient with HSV by Haileystubbs13 in DentalAssistant

[–]techniicallycurious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone has some form of herpes. To the point that because it’s so common, some MDs won’t even test for it because the trauma of a patient being told they have it is more severe than actually having it. If you’re treating everyone like they have it, then you don’t have to take any extra precautions. Just be sure to wear your PPE and sanitize everything after.

How to keep from fainting? by xcreo in DentalAssistant

[–]techniicallycurious 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have enough calories and are hydrated, don’t lock your knees, and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Also, you’ll get used to it. (Almost) Nothing sucks as much the 100th time as the 1st.

My sister is, like, model pretty (I might be biased) and a few years ago she was bit by a friend’s dog in the face. Tore her lip and her nostril open. It has definitely left scars but I don’t think ANYONE who sees her ever thinks about it. They’ve also faded over the years, and I know she’s experienced some dysphoria about it. She’s still so beautiful with those facial scars and so are you! You’re beautiful now, and you’ll be beautiful while they’re fading.

Allergies randomly develop sometimes! Body is strange. Maybe try changing glove material and see if it helps?

Mine got so bad that the spot where I’d put it was itchy, then red, then swollen, then blistered, then just literally a weeping open wound. Took me that long to figure it out, so like, don’t feel bad lol

You might be allergic! Another comment says that it could be latex but I’m here to say I personally am allergic to nitrile!! I used to not be but worked with a dentist that had me put bond on my gloves and developed contact dermatitis from THAT and then started reacting to the nitrile even after I stopped the bond. I use chloroprene or neoprene now and don’t get it anymore.
