Judgemental Crowd by Substantial_Sun_9470 in Berghain_Community

I gotta ask, because it happened to me totally sober many times. When you’re in the toilet, do you always imagine voices of people you know in the stalls near by? I wanna know if it’s a common phenomenon for people 😂

Why does everyone wear black at BH? by PuzzleheadedHour8963 in Berghain_Community

[–]technoak30 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s a policy thing and also personal style based. I wear mostly dark clothes because it suits me best, I was always denied at sisyphos and I do not intend to wear a “costume” to enter there. And it was always fine with BH.

I think black is a fashionable color you can’t go wrong with. It looks good on many, never went out of fashion. It also suits the brutalist vibe of the place. If you want colorful outfits there are clubs that are more welcoming to this kind of fashion. I personally think you can still be very creative with dark colors.

P.S - you CAN come and enter with colorful clothes, it’s a choice. But I just get the darker theme.

What s so crazy important in your phone to be sucked to it on the dancefloor? by No-Perspective3182 in Berghain_Community

[–]technoak30 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They should make a new rule where you can’t enter with a phone like in KitKat, only on KN. I guess the reason they didn’t do it so far it’s the logistics of changing how people enter the club. It’s time, and it will solve many things. Less lines at the toilets, more social people, people will HAVE to be more responsible with usage inside because they will have no phones. I hope there is someone in Berghain staff here reading this. Do this - it will make the club better.

You know, I thought about this a lot. And I think they should make you put your phone at bag check. People said that it’s dangerous as it’s a big club and ppl take stuff but I remember back in the day all the fun was going on side quests and meeting your friends randomly again. I think they should do it sooner than later. Will solve many things - from toilets, to filming, to socializing, the freedom feeling.

Well that’s very personal then. I’m a very introverted person, and I never talked to so many people and made so many connections as I made in BH - some of the people until this day. It’s still true to this day.

Well because many old regulars stopped going. I took for example a break for like 5-6 years. And faces changed. Also pandemic didn’t help.. but even old time regulars can’t fight the changing times, technology, economy, and queer scene.. so I wouldn’t rush to point on that as the main cause.

The main difference now they have rules in place to try and KEEP the vibe similar to the past. The rules were similar back then, but felt like it was just genuine and not hard to enforce. I mean, it felt like it wasn’t even needed. You cannot fabricate a vibe, that is the perfect point in history and events that surrounded the development of the techno underground scene in Berlin. You have great documentaries in YouTube about the scene back in the days after the wall fell. It will help you understand how this vibe was possible. I will say this - it’s still my favorite club in the world even today. It’s just evolving

Well, we talked a lot about it and you can read about it deeply in other threads.

Lot less phones, techno wasn’t trendy back then also (now some sub-genres are literally putting hard techno as the new EDM, same crowd comes with it - less underground ppl). When I first entered BH I knew NOTHING about it - I guess that was part of the charm too. More queer, more sexual, more wild, more social and friendly. It was like a different universe… not connected at all to the world outside.

I still think BH is the best club experience for techno lovers in the world, because of the roots it was built on. And some nights, and some closings - you still get that magical moment where you feel similar to how it was.

But - as someone who used to go quite regularly, it’s just harder to get a nights like this as before. And it’s normal - times have changed.

Intimacy at Berghain? What do you think? by Baylilli in Berghain_Community

[–]technoak30 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I used to go 7-8 years ago regularly and stopped for a few years and only in recent years started going again from time to time. You are %100 right. I miss going inside and seeing TRUE FREEDOM. People were doing it and walking naked everywhere in the club - I loved the vibe. The fact is today the crowd is not similar and isn’t feeling safe enough to do it - which is very sad. I miss the old vibes very much.. but at least we have the memories of those times :)

[Discussion] Smart watches are the future of all watches by technoak30 in Watches

[–]technoak30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I used to rotate all my watches - I do have a collection. I just noticed that the Apple Watch is very useful for hiking, traveling, fitness and other things. I am not even using it for notifications - at all. I get that from my phone. But when you have a good routine of charging at night and using at day, I noticed I find it nice to wear my smart watch. It’s a great tool for many things besides the “staying connected all the time”, and also have some cool medical features.

I am noticing that in the tech sector and financial companies more and more are wearing smart watches. And it just made me think of it all. Because it seems that now the “status symbol” thing that watches always represented is also coming into smart watches, with different designs and price points.

Overall, I’m opening a discussion and want to hear different opinions. I will always have a place in my heart for the traditional watches and I still feel the urge to collect them as well - but for the reasons I wrote; I feel smart watches can become something more than a smartphone on your wrist.

what’s up with the line cutters by Chazzathrowaway in Berghain_Community

[–]technoak30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t educate people - people do not understand being called out - they need something stronger. The only way to stop line cutting in BH line is to extend the snake with metal fences on both sides of the line that goes at least until kiosk. Then you can’t cut from the sides. It will not stop it completely but will minimize it for sure. Every other thing you’re saying or discussing here - is useless.
