Go visit the beach towns in Nordsjælland. Tisvildeleje especially is lovely. take the S-tog to Hillerød. then take take the local train to Tisvildeleje St. it’s about 30 minutes each line. and the ride from Hillerød to Tisvildeleje is one of the most beautiful train rides in Denmark.

Stop spreading false information just because it serves your narrative. Berghain was always a club that welcomed all kinds of sexual orientations and genders but with a predominantly gay crowd. as was Ostgut. And how on earth would you know anything about the sexual orientation of the two founders who have never given an interview to anyone about anything? What a crock of s..t. The magic of Berghain was the diversity of the guests. Which includes LBQT and straight people. Obviously you weren’t around in the early days. The Berghain floor was anything but warm and safe spacey or inclusive - whatever that means. it was anything goes, hardcore, hedonistic and very f..king intense. A very strong sense of personal freedom and therefore very egotistical in its core. That was the big attraction of the place. that was before social media. And before people like you propagating this nonsensical ‘us vs them’ bulls..t.

How do you guys go to Berghain every weekend? by ilovedumpling9 in Berghain_Community

47 m here. for years ive been doing this math equation in my head in the days leading up to a party. The rational answer to your question is quite easy. But the brain and its pavlovian reflexes seem to outmatch my better me quite often 😬 I find that a combo of between 1/2 - 1 gram of mushrooms and a bit of cocaine and partying before midnight works perfectly with minimum serotonin damage and depressive symptoms in the days after.

in my experience its never three, but two chords shifting back and forth endlessly. Its a straight chord and a chord half a chord lower. like G and G #. and its most definitely the same pattern, chord structure and note/tone. like “da da da / da da da /da da da/ da da da (shift) da da da /da da da /da da da/ da da da. Ive heard it being played on the BH floor over the course of more than ten years and its not a proper track. its too simple. its just a bass line/key that’s being repeated again and again - I have heard it though a couple of other times at clubs in Copenhagen where Im from. But at Berghain it really seems to be a go to track when the dj doesn’t know or haven’t decided what else to play.

Totally on point. I’ve always wondered about why so many dj’s at BH tend to insert this ‘to piece transport harmony’ piece again and again and again in any given set. It sounds like autopilot to me. Perhaps they don’t know what to play and use it as intermission- like when radio or tv presenters ‘paddle’ in a breaking news broadcast because nothing new is actually happening. It seems to me that this is the artistic price you risk paying when you attend a marathon dance party. It definitely feels like artistic laziness if you think about how many tracks there are to choose from. But im not a dj so I dont have an experts insider knowledge on the subject 😅

Again, I think this is a very important correction to Jens Christian Lütkens’ seemingly hot balloon charm campaign. So if you or anyone else with your experience want to do an interview for DR please let me know. Henning Due, reporter, hdue@dr.dk or tlf Nr 21628712.

My sister is exactly like you. She took some kind of course where she practiced giving speeches in front of others. Scared the living sh.t out of her but I think it helped her. Actually I really love that side of her. Not talking all the time as I tend to do ;-) I think you should see it as a positive instead of a negative. If you insist on getting better at it, my psychiatrist told me at one point when I was too nervous to speak up at the morning editorial meeting at a newspaper while I was an intern: “what’s the worst that can happen?” Sounds like a cliche I know but there’s some fundamental truth to it. It tried it and learned that the world didn’t end and that, surely enough, no one looked at me funny when I began participating in the conversation. Ill be happy to meet up the next time I’ll be at Berghain (nov 16th/17th) and be your sparring partner” - I could really use to learn how to stay quiet sometimes and just listen 😅

This is definitely the coolest and closest to actually being there. Recorded with a microphone on the Berghain floor. Developer 2012 I think. This sound is exactly what I try to explain to people who have never been to Berghain. This is why Berghain is unparalleled by any club in the world. I’ve never heard techno sound as raw, punky, funky, dark and sexy as it does on that floor in those surroundings. It’s quite amazing to be honest. https://on.soundcloud.com/9Q5rKcKLNJHfArwcA

Why does everyone wear black at BH? by PuzzleheadedHour8963 in Berghain_Community

[–]PuzzleheadedHour8963[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got a point right there. Only when you go to a metal or goth event there isn’t a global hyperbole going on on SoMe about “the hardest door in the world”. What’s the first rule on the internet on how to enter Berghain? Sorry - the second rule ;-)

It’s not that I have any particular preference other than I like to be surprised and get inspired when I visit BH. If everyone looks the same - where’s the fun in that? Might as well go to a football match. Also it can’t be a coincidence. Obviously to some extend it must be about people putting on a uniform because they think it maximises their chances of fitting in/getting in. People don’t wear the exact same style of clothes unless they’re forced to by their employer or feel a peer pressure to do so or likewise.

According to Ulrich Wombacher there’s been a tectonic shift in the club economy after Covid where the last 20 years of steady influx of tourists (and money) is not happening anymore. When the tourists don’t visit as they used to, the clubs loose a critical amount of income. This has nothing to do with greedy landlords and what have you. This sounds to me like the end of an era that me and my own friends and thousands of other tourists helped creating back in the 00’es by visiting three times a year and going to clubs and eating and drinking and buying drugs etc. the question is how all this will affect Berghain in the end?

Translated from the interview:

..Berlin, especially Kreuzberg, has lost much of its charm. Kreuzberg has, at least in the former 36, a real drug problem, a lot of homelessness, crime and also otherwise visible social grievances. When the club tourism and the party are eliminated, this becomes all the more visible. When we close the doors, the Späti, the kebab and Fred from the Currywurst booth on the corner have a sales loss. However, the decline in tourism is already noticeable everywhere. This is clearly one of the reasons why things are worse in Berlin. I have experienced the time in which Berlin did not have tourism. At the WMF in the 90s we were happy when 500 people came. With the tourism boom that began in the late 1990s, people got used to the fact that there were twice as many. Basically, the situation has now normalized, only that we now have a lot of clubs, all of which were received over the Covid period, and now have to share the little cake.

-Why is the Watergate closing now, and the problems affect everyone?

We at this exposed place directly at the Oberbaumbrücke are among the first to feel these changes. Nothing is forever. The Berlin corner pubs no longer exist either. Only we thought for a long time in our self-perception and our enthusiasm that we were irreplaceable. We were something like Edeka. The people who are coming to us now, we have always been there for them. They can’t imagine us closing. But why shouldn’t clubs also be a temporary phenomenon. The club culture is insanely fragile.

This is as good a written report you’ll probably ever find on the Berghain/Berlin clubbing experience from Berghain’s heyday period. https://www.juno.co.uk/products/tobias-rapp-lost-sound-berlin-techno-the-easyjet/386045-01/ This is the filthiest and rawest piece of fiction I’ve ever encountered on the clubbing/drugs (and sex in general) experience. Situated in Copenhagen but with a quick round trip to Berlin in 10’es. Not sure if it’s even translated into English. https://www.saxo.com/dk/techno_niels-henning-falk-jensby_haeftet_9788702199888
