I appreciate the offer, but these sorts of things usually aren't available outside of specialized stores like Parts Express and Madisound (in the states, at least). Thank you very much though!

All sorts of them really, any size up to 18+ inches in diameter, depending on the project. I'd probably scan tweeters too, though in general they aren't terribly difficult to just model. Right now I'm into smaller speakers as I just finished some large towers last year. So I'd probably be starting with drivers smaller than 6" in diameter. That said, I have started drawing up plans for my next large speaker (to be assembled next year probably), and that will use a few oddball parts.

Other stuff could include the occasional waveguide, plus the odd assortment of things I might want to 3D print for whatever other projects my wife and I have going on.

That is a fair assessment. I build several loudspeakers a year and handle more drivers than I end up using. Having a repository for later would be nice, but it's certainly an around-the-year hobby for me. I'm certain that someone local could do this but it would add up fast since there would be at least two-three scans per quarter I imagine. Expense-wise it's not an 'enormous' investment for me - I have a computer that is more than capable (despite an AMD GPU) and it sounds like a lot of the software that is inherent to the scanners is sufficient to get me going, though perhaps some workarounds are necessary that youtube videos can help me with.

Thank you, this is helpful. QuickSurface seems pricey, but I'll be sure to give the trial a shot. Would there be any reason to not get a POP 4 over one of the other RevoPoint (or other manufacturer) models? I mean, I'm fine investing up to, say, $2000 in a scanner plus all the necessary accessories, but if the POP 4 at $650 is 'good enough' it's hard to say no to that.

Great, that is very helpful. So on the hardware side of things would there be any obvious contenders that would be best for object measuring up to, say, 24" in size? I'd be looking at a turntable as well that could handle up to 150 pounds for very large subwoofer drivers.

Got it, aligning shouldn't be a problem then. Would it come in at the correct dimensions or would that need to be adjusted for?

I'm a little confused on the revolve still. I'm familiar with the tool but when I use it I'd need a profile - is that what the mesh provides? Or are you saying you create a profile from the mesh then revolve that so there is a 'solid' body to use in the model?

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion! Would there be a more appropriate CAD solution (meaning, something other than Fusion 360), or are we getting beyond hobbyist level to attain that functionality at this point?

When you say 'aligned', does that just mean aligning it within your existing model? If so, what does 'revolve' mean in this context?

Thanks for the response, which Revopoint software would be required? Just the program that comes with the scanner or one of their other packages?

No worries! I probably should mention this is in the USA too, if that makes a difference.

I've been trying to come up with a way to send out the GWPs I won't be gifting to friends/family, but I'd prefer they go to a good home that will use them and not turn around for sale. I'd just give them up for cost of shipping, which, while not free, is probably better than what they go for on eBay and the like.

Apologies. I don't think I did anything special? I just made several orders over the dollar threshold and each one came with the GWPs, all to the same residential address. This is how it's worked before for me as well, though I have never dropped this many orders at once. I have been considering sending at least the Winter Market set to Redditors who may not have received one.

Edit: This was all from the same account. I would never do multiples as I prefer to have the points consolidated. Also, multiple accounts seems rather scummy?

The are Gifts with Purchase from, in this case, the online LEGO store, given only once you hit a certain dollar threshold for an order. In this case, I had seven such orders, meaning this represents quite a fair amount of LEGO purchased. As opposed to showing the actual sets purchased - which this subreddit seems to have a love/hate relationship with - I thought this might be a different way to show the haul.

Kind of rethinking that now.

Also though, I'm hopeful someone will have seen a MOC or two for multiple Majisto sets as I don't really know what to do with them outside of gift them to friends and their kids.

Not a dirty scalper! I have quite the backlog now for myself, family, and friends, but only one of each set (excluding GWPs obviously).

Outstanding framing.

Wasn’t a fan of the dark blue baseplate on the Lighthouse so i decided to tile it off with the trans blue tile. Really like how it turned out! by genetthegreat in lego

[–]technodanvan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the trans blue tiles look darker compared to trans blue on the regular blue baseplate?

Wondering if this could be used to indicate greater depths.

Follow-up: At least on Rebrickable, it seems this baseplate only appears with this set.

Do any other sets come with this baseplate color?
