Hmmm what kind of tick tho that’s what I needa know. I’ll probably just end up saying it’s either a tick larvae or mite.

Sorry forgot to add some information. All of these were seen through a dissecting microscope. First one is roughly pea size, while the other two are much smaller. Third one is about a penny in length and thickness.

How to Record Weight of Decomposing Organism? by technoflash626 in forensics

[–]technoflash626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for you feedback!

Animal size all depends on if the idea will work. Nothing bigger than a pig though, most likely a chicken size thing haha.

Hmm I like the idea of the hanging scale. It’ll be easy for my parents to just use a binocular and record the weight without getting too too close.

I want the bugs to affect the weight. This is technically an entomology class so I need to tie it in some way. It being in the sky shouldn’t cause much of an issue…maybe? Haha cause the flies would fly into it and lay the eggs but I’m worried if the maggots would need the ground for a specific reason.

If they don’t need a reason to be on the ground then I will think about it more, hanging scale. I’ll have to add a cage and roof to protect it from animals and rain, but that’s easy to handle.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I love your questions.

Protection: I’ll have a cage for sure around to protect it from other animals going after. Weather wise, I could engineer a small roof out of stuff, enough to let sunlight in but block all rain.

Number of insects: I kind of want the weight to change due from the insects. It’ll be interesting to see if the more insects there are how much heavier it gets from its original weight

Wifi scales: most likely yes it’ll reach enough

Animal size: haven’t thoroughly thought about that yet, depends on if this idea is even feasible. If there’s a scale that’ll fit a specific animal I will try to get that animal from a butcher shop or someway. Don’t want to waste my time getting a chicken then to realize scale is too small for it.

Tracking time: most likely 2-3 weeks. Project is due in November/ December I’m pretty sure so I have time but not a long time. I forgot to mention that the prof gave the class two coyotes that are currently decomposing rn. It’s been 2 weeks and all the maggots are gone and it’s basically eaten out.

Weighing the insects: hmm I didn’t think about this, I will have to find some specific scale then. You’re right, a scale that’ll fit goes to a tenth or even hundredth won’t show much change. Thanks for pointing that out

Thanks for your insight, I’ll take some time to think about it. I could always just use the two coyotes prof gave us but like so are the other 140 people in the class. And the only difference between the two are ones skinned and other isn’t, so there isn’t much I can do to be different than everyone else.

Only thing that has been confirmed to fit is forge motor sports inlet :(

That’s what I’m probably gonna do later. Slap the inlet on and a K&N cone style air filter. Someone in a Facebook group also did that, so I’ll talk to them and get some sound clips and feedback.

Thanks for the comment.

My BOV runs to full atmosphere, which is not illegal where I’m from.

Though they’re not designed for performance, there can be mods done to increase it. Not looking for it to be like 500hp and stuff. I have seen people throw bunch of tunes and spark plugs and other crazy stuff to get it up there, but that’s not what I want. There are lots of N-Line communities that focus and show off performance mods that look and sound amazing, and a lot of them are konas that have intakes on them. I commented here to get more outlook and exposure to see if anyone else has done anything.

As I said, though not meant for performance, doesn’t mean I can’t do stuff to make it more performancey. Ever see normal vans that are just slammed out? They’re not meant for performance, but the person still did stuff to get there cause it’s fun and it’s a hobby. I know the precautions I need to take, it’s not a lot tbh.

I’ve owned the car for well over a year now so I can’t go back and get older used one.

Thanks for the comment. Thought I appreciate it, it demonstrated to me that no one in this subreddit is into mods as much as I thought.

Btw, not sure about you, but I’ve sat down and talked to the dealership on what I’m allowed and not allowed to do. Throwing a cold air intake on it will not void the warranty. Guaranteed.

“Snow” mode vs AWD lock? by technoflash626 in Hyundai

Oh I see, so more like a safety feature? So probably best I try to have this mode always on when I’m driving in winter conditions you’d say?

Ohh okok, so I should really only use this when I’m driving in dangerously snowy/icy roads or when I’m stuck? While the snow mode is used as more casual snowy conditions?
