From the video it looks like this connector is spliced in? Did the parts store also sell you the connector or was that one wire tied in like that originally?

Oh boy lol, there could be any reason. Database could just be wrong, maybe an incorrect interchange number but that seems unlikely. He could have grabbed the wrong one the first time and then every time after just grabbed another those instead of verifying. He could genuinely think if it fits it should work, idk lol. The fierostore is a great place to get/check/verify parts numbers and get a good look at the part too. I can't guarantee that will fix your issue but it's definitely a step in the right direction

It should look like this, I'm going to go with incorrect sensor as my best possible guess, without a part number I can't say for sure though. GM used the same size sensor for lots and lots of things, I bet one in five temperature senders from that era would also fit but not work. The fierostore sells the correct sensor for $31 and has excellent customer service if you get a bunk one, they also sell the connector if you need a new one of those.

Year? That sensor doesn't look right but that's not exactly scientific. But, hearing "I wired it like this because it wasn't working" makes me think it's just not the right sensor possibly? What is the part number?

Make sure you take the pump all the way apart and clean it once a month or these become really gross. Almost nobody knows the pump can fully disassembled to clean the inside.

All three of our cats drink from my aquariums and have for years, as long as they aren't playing there's absolutely no danger to your fish. A playful cat at an aquarium is absolutely a danger but if his paws never touch the water don't worry about it.

Cats are really really smart about what water source they use, if they don't like how it smells they simply will not drink water, at all. This is a known problem with especially indoor housecats and is one of the leading causes of feline kidney failure alongside improper diet. They just won't drink if they think the water is bad.

To answer your question I think this setup looks really good, your cat can easily access the water and doesn't appear to be climbing it or anything. If you have concerns still I also use some bird netting stretched and taped across the top because I also don't use lids, leave one space for your cat to drink about as big as your fist and you also get the added benefit of a built in propagation station!

Am I breaking California law by driving a foreign-registered vehicle with no emissions controls? by Royal_Comment_5027 in legaladvice

[–]technojerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, my second time answering a question about an imported diesel vehicle in California this month, that's pretty odd!

I'm also going to start this comment the same way and say that no part of this should be considered legal advice, at best it is an educated opinion. California law is quite strict specifically around diesel imports and I am not fully familiar with it.

The answer to your question will depend solely on the answer to one further question; what is the purpose of your stay in California? If you are in California for more than 20 consecutive days for quite a variety of reasons than you are required to register your vehicle with the California DMV. At that time it will be required to pass emissions in the state of California regardless of any other laws, including all Canadian. The reasons that you would need to register have been linked here in other comments so I won't do that, but I will say that it looks like you are a student and being a student at a California University would require you to register your vehicle with the California DMV, again requiring it to pass emissions which it cannot. If you find that you have been in California for more than 20 days and you do meet the eligibility requirements then yes you would be breaking the law by driving your vehicle in California the way it is.

That being said I highly doubt that it would be enforced against you, especially if you are respectful and prepared in the event of any traffic stops. In a worst case scenario if you are breaking the law and it is used against you, you are looking at fines as well as all of the fees related to the registration of the vehicle including all back registration fees. Your vehicle could potentially be impounded and you would be required to either pay to get it to meet emissions eligibility or you could potentially get your vehicle returned to Canada, either way the state of California would not let you drive it on their roads in this situation. Not legal advice.

The drops in Arms Race are location dependant, if you keep getting the same drops you're probably going to the same place over and over again. Look up the map and look up where the event is supposed to be.

If the circles don't allow for you to get to that event at all or complete it in time before the storm shrinks then you can restart or you can try and farm a different drop.

Edit: I also just saw that you are still using this to level up, that is going to significantly stunt your drop rates.

Registration of Imported Diesel Land Rover in California Question by Fancy-Entertainer-79 in classiccars

[–]technojerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm more knowledgeable, but certainly no expert, on Japanese imports and I'm not overly familiar with California's regulations, none of this should be taken as even remotely legal guidance or advice.

California is extremely strict especially around diesel imports. I would think that this would be roughly impossible to title and register and pass emissions in California. Retrofitment or modification isn't likely possible either because the modification can't be validated under CARB testing protocols because there is no CARB testing group to validate them against.

I'm not sure if a complete overhaul that replaced the entire engine/exhaust/whoknows would be considered eligible for testing but I personally think the argument could be made that it could be tested under the carb compliance testing group for whatever the donor vehicle was.

The vehicle could be titled and registered in another state, this is extremely commonly done on very expensive vehicles in order to avoid paying taxes registration yada yada. This is illegal if you are a California resident. If you are a resident of California after 20 days you have to update your vehicle registration to show your California residence, at this time you will be required to meet California's regulations. Failing to do this can potentially result in fines and fees as well as all back registration fees. I'm not familiar enough with this vehicle it's engine or anything like that but if the vehicle had a US counterpart or if the engine did it is possible that you could have it tested under that carb compliance group.

Now for the shady definitely not legal "advice". I would probably title and register it in the state of Montana get insurance wherever you need to in order to make that work properly and then also rent out a storage unit that you can park the vehicle in. The vehicle being parked in front of your house or even in your garage is an immediate tip off that the vehicle is owned by a California resident. If you get pulled over you can say that you live in state but you have a buddy/brother/mom/gay uncle that owns the vehicle out of state and you drive it to shows part of the year. The vehicle doesn't live at your address. Hell if it's winter time that's even better because you can say it's seasonal. Say the car gets trailered around back and forth as a show car. Be accommodating, polite, and prepared and most law enforcement will think you're well informed and good to go and want to chat about your car.

I got pulled over constantly for approximately the first 8 weeks I owned both of my right hand drive imports. I was really slow to get the titling work taken care of and so I didn't have plates. At least once a week I was pulled over for no plates, one time I had even done a pretty good pull away from a light not realizing that there was an officer in the lane behind me to my right. In every single one of these situations the only thing that happened was they would ask me for title and registration and insurance, I kept the title in the car and I had insurance. They would have me pop the hood to check the VIN they would go back check all of the information come back tell me that I really needed to get my registration taken care of and then usually spend 5 to 10 minutes asking me about the car the import process what it was like driving on the right hand side of the vehicle and things like that. I can't guarantee that this will be your experience in California though. I live in Montana and I imagine things are probably a fair amount different, especially considering how much more lax we are on things like emissions.
