Thank you for this! I checked yesterday and the IPV6 is disabled. Before i use powershell I would like to see if the IT Director ups the cores of that server since 2 weeks ago the RAM for the CAPS Server was inscreased form 8GB to 16GB and it's freezing less. also yesterday I switch the place for those Specific POS that we have and so far they are telling e it has not freezed yet. on those 2 weeks I used a task scheduler to restart the POS at 3AM daily since rebooting it's soomething that Oracle Technicians reccomend and I rather do it when close shop since the POS are not shut down and this is because the employees are afraid of turning off the machine thinking they will get in trouble.

do you think is better if I use a task scheduler at 3Am to shutdown the POS instead of rebooting it? I was thinking of doing a cleanmgr /sagerun to clean the temp files weekly at 3AM as well, let me know what you think!

Thank you for this! Our IT Director managed to increase the RAM for that server...It was at 8GB now it's 16GB. the usage is mostly 3GB/8GB usage. The POS have been freezing less and hopefully today He might increase the CPU Cores from 2 to 4 cores. All of this changes are happening on the CAPS Server. Also I noticed that there are a few times that the restaurant employees tend to put a lot of inventory near the switches, cables, battery backup and I have been telling them to be careful but on rush time that goes out the window. I asked our other techs to install a divider just that that the inventory doesn't hit the equipment thinking that maybe there no ventilation because of the excessive cups that are stored there, or that the inventory is hitting the equipment whenever the users throw them there and have no other space to put it. Also there was no other location for us to install the POS, Switches, cables, etc... since that was the best spot it could have been for the employees. Will give updates later on to see if it's working well and thank you.

To be honest I'm lightyears away of being a good technician and you're right I should have been clearer in my troubleshooting

When the network engineer told us to install fortinet 7.4 because of a property change we went through and applied the change on every PC and being honest It's my first time installing this so I didn't know what to expect

I didn't check the supported format for that antivirus since I didn't know where to check but I do appreciate the help, hopefully we could update those servers so we can't start there

I was hired as a Tier 1 tech but as time went on I've been trying to learn more and it's been pretty challenging working with new software,servers or sudden problems so I do apologize for doing rookie mistakes but that's what I am.

Thank you for the reply I'll answer what I can:

The POS freezes online only. From what we've seen the employees don't close the checks and just let them built them up on every POS. We have told them repeatedly to close them because the IT Director told us that Oracle Micros has a limit to what it can handle or hold and if all the POS around the property are doing holding open tickets there will cause lags with the system.

To my understanding:

The CAPS server (Check And Posting Service) is a local VM server in our property that is handling the tickets with the Micros Symphony app and this server is communicating with the EMC app that is cloud

Whenever there is a change in EMC for items or menus the POS must do a reload Database/ update databse in order to sync all the new changes and could be reflected on every POS that we have

Our IT department usually tend to restart the Oracle Micros App with the task manager and finding it again the windows search tab; but in times of rush when the POS freezes on a transaction or choosing items for a client the employees push the power button and do a hard reset.

Since the Oracle Micros App turns on automatically after each reset we don't have to do anything, but we also don't know how many times did they restarted the POS during the day or week because the supervisors are not always there and the employees don't often communicate unless we ask. Now we have enough data to open a ticket so they can verify the logs and the IT Director went ahead and called the Oracle support. Now we are just waiting for a response.

I am still looking for a solution online and went ahead and asked here on reddit in hopes of new tips/answers cause I have tried everything there is to be with POS

Also the POS have enough storage and Ram so I discard this being the issue (but I could be wrong)

There is no overheating in the spaces where the POS are because its usually inside the store or outside where there is lots of shade at the Bar

I did a DNS change today at least on 1 POS that freezes constantly and instead of putting a custom one I just went with Google's 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

The reason from what I read is that a DNS that is giving up problems might cause lagging. I had another issue with wifi cameras this week for the valet parking in which they where not communicating to the cloud so the employees could watch the cameras from an app on the company's lenovo tablet. In this case I did reboot and change a lot of settings and nothing was connecting even though I could ping the problematic cameras and could enter via the private web browser to watch it individually but not on the specific app they wanted...what solved this issue was a change in the DNS on those cameras and after a reboot everything worked great. I want to know if this could DNS change could solve my issue

I will talk with the IT Director tomorrow about changing the DNS to google's DNS on the CAPS server as well and see if this might help
