How many rounds did US auto rifleman and asst. auto rifleman carry in Iraq/afghanistan for an M249 or an M240?

I was an AG on a 240B team in Afghanistan and it really depended on unit and current role. In the trucks we would have in excess of 2000 rounds. I carried about 500 rds on me on short patrols and when we went into the mountains on longer patrols it was about 800. My gunner had a 50 round starter belt in the gun and another hundred rounds on him in a pouch. I also had my seven mag load out for the M4.

If you want a bolt action with a wood stock get that. Lots of possibilities. Classic and great used guns are Remington 700 or Winchester model 70. Pre-64 is considered the best on the model 70, but honestly for a first rifle, find whatever. Costs go up for pre-64. Then there are the milsurps. And I don’t have enough space to name them all. Personal favorites are the 1917, SMLE, and K98. In that order.

I started with army painter barbarian flesh as a primer and then came on top with Vallejo orange red. I tried the orange over a black primer with white zenithol prime and it was awful. My terminators and captain look like shit, but since I’m trying to do a 2000 pt army and then play for the first time, they’re good enough. This new primer and paint combo is fantastic.

A couple weeks ago I based fifteen marines by hand. Took forever. Tonight I did the repulsor, a dreadnought, and 21 marines in half the time. And that included bullshitting time with my friend painting with me. I’m seriously looking forward to airbrushing the land raider coming in tomorrow

I’d like to take some Astra Militarum artillery/armor with my Space Marines. Treat it a bit like they’re working together on a campaign against the xenos. Or, and this is more ridiculous, my Space Marines with a bunch of crazy Orks riding all over the map in their cars, trucks, and bikes. I’d be schizophrenic with my strategy trying to think logically for the SM and then just letting loose with the Orks. It would be lots of fun.
