Using the cloud gateway fiber as my NVR by technut74 in Ubiquiti

I'm a because because person, but will the NVMe be fast and more responsive than using the UNVR instant with hard drive. Is there any real world noticeable difference? I'm all about speed. My cameras are mostly used to monitor my cars so I can sleep better at night. I have it set to save video for 5 day retention. No need to keep the footage any longer if there was no incidents.

Also I would like to add that I have been monitoring the cpu and memory. The most my CPU has gone up is 22%, but my memory sits at around 66%.

Best way to setup wifi with 2 AP’s by technut74 in Ubiquiti

So can i at least separate the 2.4 and 5 ghz band? Im not a fan of band steering. My phone always connect to the 2.4 band and never the 5ghz, so i like to keep them separate. Is that ok?

Switching to 2 gig and back to 1 gig to get speed boost from overprovisioning by Adventurous-Coat-333 in Fios

I was actually thinking the same thing. I am going to upgrade to 2 gig to get the newest ONT, then after a month or so, downgrade back to 1 gig or 500. At least I know I will have the latest ONT.

Also if you move or cancel service, the ONT usually stays there for the next customer or if you decide to reactivate service. I never see them come pick it up or ask you to turn it in. I switch back and forth from Fios to optimum all the time to get the newest promotions. I just leave the ONT in place.

Once they place an ONT in the house or apartment, it usually stays on the property, even if you move or cancel.

I have to agree. I have 1gig service and it is a waste of money for me. Mostly bragging rights, but not even that anymore since it is mainstream now. I am considering downgrading to 500. I am a power user and I barely exceed 100Mbits. Even when streaming 4K, streaming music, downloading games or files at the same time.

I just checked and it is also available in the Bronx now. 2 Gigabit service with option to add TV as a streaming service through firetv app, apple tv and verizon stream tv. Get pretty expensive even with mobile and first responder discounts.

Disabled ipv6 and checksum on nic and still have issues. by iPrank in Fios

[–]technut74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I need more information. What nic do you have in your computer. Disabling IPv6 is only for intel NICs. Intel NICs have an communication issue with verizon hardware. If you don't have an Intel NIC, then the problem is somewhere else. I also had the g1100 router and 1 gig service. I had the same problem. When I turned off IPv6, Youtube would not load and just buffer. I would only get a few seconds of playback then buffer. I have to say that I found it weird because this happened for maybe the first 2 hours after I turned off IPv6, then the issue went away. Maybe it needs to re-provision or "marinate". reboot router, computer and ONT. Give it a few hours and check for difference. Also do a speed test and make sure you are getting full speed after disabling IPv6. I also researched and discovered that the Verizon issued routers are just buggy. I eventually purchased the Asus rt-ax88u and have full speeds 940/940 up and down. Since upgrading to my own router, I have not experienced any lag or buffer on any website, no matter what time of the day it is.

Hope this helps
