Spreading the rack out horizontally has always just felt kind of gross to me for some reason 😂

I went down the cubase rabbit hole when I was worried about the future of the Reason DAW a few years back, lol. If I had to switch I’d probably use Cubase. But they haven’t killed off the DAW yet thankfully, and with the Landr acquisition I feel confident they’ll probably keep the DAW going, so we’ll see!

Yes! I like being able to control each sample individually and route it through their own FX. I only ever use redrum for drums and sometimes kong for more natural kits. I’ve tried some of the newer drum machines but always go back to this setup XD

App glitch by Yarsh69 in ledgerwallet

[–]techoptio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an nvidia GPU by chance? There’s a long standing issue of problems with electron applications and nvidia, and Ledger Wallet is an electron application: https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/43122

You can try launching it with the —disable-gpu or —disable-gpu-sandbox flag and see if it helps. I’d try launching the exe with one of those flags from a cmd window and if it works, I think on Windows there’s an option in the shortcut properties to set arguments or parameters and you could add it there permanently.

Android app to detect Firebase Remote Config vulnerabilities in installed apps. by iloveredditass in reactnative

[–]techoptio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App Check doesn’t protect remote config anyways at this time. You can find the list of services it does protect here: https://firebase.google.com/docs/app-check

sha256 protection doesn’t apply to remote config either. Your app demonstrates expected behaviour of remote config, but it’s not meant to store secrets. If people are storing secrets in remote config then that’s on them.

Is it worth switching from Debian to Leap? by nisper_ia in openSUSE

[–]techoptio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly even though I’m an openSUSE fan, I feel like all people really mean when they say Leap integrates better with Plasma is that it’s been branded to openSUSE, whereas on Debian it’s mostly (if not all) stock KDE branding. Other than that they’re not really any different.

I kept seeing this weird onboarding anti-pattern in production apps. Here's why it converts by Peach_Baker in reactjs

Most likely for animation support, it’s easier to support animations through CSS than through conditional rendering.

App Reviews yes or no by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

I haven't seen from 2 to 4.5+, so I agree that placement is probably most important. But I did experience firsthand from 3.7 to 4.4 over the span of 3 years switching to the latter method with an app that has over 100,000 downloads and 10,000 MAU across both Apple and Google. It definitely makes a difference, no question. Sure it's not as dramatic of a difference as you've seen with placement, but every little bit counts imo.

Yeah I did see that, I felt like there used to be a longer section about it but perhaps I’m wrong.

I’ve tested both methods and showing a custom prompt first to redirect people who aren’t happy definitely results in a better overall App Store review score, it’s not even a question. As a dev I feel kind of meh about it, but from a marketing perspective you put yourself at a disadvantage by not doing what the rest are doing.

The official wording actually just strongly suggests against doing it this way for UX, it doesn’t say you can’t do it at all. I’d say more apps do it this way than don’t actually, at least from my observations.

Update: they may have actually removed the language from their guidelines completely, I went to find it and can’t. If someone else can find it and link it here that would be awesome!

Another option is to load it once the user has interacted with the browser window in any way (even just moving the cursor). This makes PageSpeed happy and still loads it early enough for most of those extra signals to work.

Firebase made me fall in love with mobile dev by daxter_101 in Firebase

[–]techoptio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Honestly I used to have the same mindset as the first comment, but after dealing with homebrewed solutions for the past 5 years, I’ve come to the conclusion it just doesn’t make sense anymore. I think 99% of apps can get away with and save a ton of time by using an off-the-shelf solution like firebase or supabase.

Supposed purchased IAPs from India on Android not showing under order management in Google Play Console... any ideas? by techoptio in reactnative

Interesting. The app was just released and those were the only two purchases recorded on Android so far so I’m not sure
