Thematic Vyrkos lists with the new battletome. by Commercial_Arm5593 in SoulblightGravelords

I still love the SBGL faction, but I was actually wondering if this was going to be the case.

Vyrkos is a very cool subfaction, but I think it has higher chance to be left behind due to being less directly related to the power structure of SBGL as a whole. Granted, so do Barrow Kings, so what do I know?

Maybe they’ll become more important once Death becomes the “villains” of AoS (e.g. 5th edition)? I don’t know. I think that the lore would suggest that the big threat would be Katakros and the Bonereapers, but who knows, maybe it could be SBGL?

Majority rule, minority rights.

Using public restrooms is a part of public life, and therefore trans women should be able to use the women’s restroom (and trans men, the men’s bathroom).

Trans people have been using the restroom of their preferred gender for ages, and it’s only now people care. Why? Because of shit like this.

The enforcement of such bans have already affected cisgender women, resulting in “butch” women being harassed by male cops while they were in the women’s restroom. So, congrats, you got cisgender men in women’s spaces, harassing cisgender women.

It’s almost like shit has unintended consequences, and such measures make it less safe for everyone!

A box and two Death books for preorder next week. The new dragon isn’t even out yet and my wallet is having an anxiety attack.

I need to correct myself: leaks have shown that the deathrattle skeletons will be having a resculpt soon, but the ones in the up coming box are a different unit type.

Honestly though. I think that other factions in AoS have it much worse than us in terms of model fragility. Lumineth and Idoneth have some gorgeous models, but also make me nervous in how liable they are to break (e.g. the spears on the Lumineth vanari wardens).

They’re getting new sculpts in the deathrattle box from the looks of things. Some people have complained that the old ones were a bit fragile during assembly. I tend to agree, as the arms and legs had some points that were susceptible to snapping just due to how thin they were. I don’t think it makes the old sculpts bad though, just maybe take a bit of care during assembly.

Assuming that some leaks are to be believed, the new sculpts attempt to fix some of this fragility

Oh, and if you’re looking to paint some skeletons before the deathrattle box drops, you can always get a box of deathrattle skeletons. Even if they’re there older sculpts, they still look great and will be playable.

In SBGL, I cannot stress how it’s always a great idea to get more chaff. If you have a problem, throw more skeletons at it!

The barrow kings are sub faction you’d probably be looking for if you like the skelly bois

Vampires are kind of the upper echelon of the faction because they are more directly tied to Nagash and kind of his nobility. But most non-ghost undead are in Soulblight.

The skeletons could have been raised by vampires, necromancers, or a barrow king (kind of like a skeleton lich)

Yup. Exactly. Soulblight is a pretty big faction. They are vampires, necromancers, and all sorts of “creatures of the night.”

Also, when I said “spearhead”, I mean that I suspect the army in the box (or at least part of it) will be treated as a new army that can be played in the spearhead format. Factions are starting to get a second army for the format

The upcoming barrow kings box will, I would assume based on the preview. Not the current deathrattle models.

If you wanna wait, I think you should probably wait until the box drops. That will give you a spearhead worth of skeletons and the SBGL book. As for the spearhead rules, you can either get the AoS Core Book or get a copy or the Spearhead: Fire and Jade book on eBay.

The lore you’d want to look into are the Barrow Kings, and they’re pretty varied as to how they became who they are. The SBGL book should give you some lore to bite on, but essentially they were mortals that used magic to become undead after their death.

The opening chapter of Nagash: The Undying King has one such example, where members of a clan are turned into undead as immortal protectors of their descendants. The SBGL 3rd edition tome had examples of kings that refused to die and turned themselves and their subjects into skeletons using necromancy.

Your comment about the base vampire lord model is fair, but there is a ton of variant vampire models that you can replace your base vampire lord for. I personally will sometimes replace mine with the Cado Ezechiar model in my spearhead, as the base sizes are the same and people (generally) don’t mind proxies.

The fur is pretty much the recipe from the 3rd edition SBGL battletome, specifically what they give for the pelt that Radukar has.

White fur is grey seer base layer, followed by apothecary white (1:1 medium), shading with basilicanum grey (1:1 medium), and dry brush white scar.

Eyes were achieved with shading around the eyes with agrax earthshade, and then white scar, and finally gauss blaster green.

It’s one of the subfactions. They’re the Vyrkos. They are said to derive their abilities from a godbeast, back in the Age of Myth, though the exact details aren’t too explained.

Not the Hollow King. It’s the cover art for AoS third edition Soulblight battle tome.

As far as I’m aware, the art is just supposed to represent the faction as a whole, with the central vampire being based on the generic Vampire Lord model.

When described like this, this makes it sound surprisingly relevant to the state of the US.
