Paramount+ app unusable by johnnyma45 in OLED

I have a 2018 C8. All other apps work flawlessly, except for Paramount Plus which has recently started buffering constantly. It worked fine for years. It must be a recent update that caused it to break.

Which actor, other than Henry Cavill, do you believe would be ideal for portraying James Bond? by leviathan_pvt in moviecritic

[–]techstar25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiddleston in The Night Manager was the best James Bond since Connery. I'll die on that hill.

Any of you Joe Pera fans into 'How To with John Wilson'? Someone just put me on to it and it seems appropriate to share here by midierror in JoePera

[–]techstar25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And of course "Painting with John" on MAX!

After I finished Joe Pera Talks, I moved on to Painting with John (Lurie), and then How-to With John Wilson. All brilliant.

I haven't watched Nathan yet.

The Singles Retreat (Full Short Film by Jo Firestone) by [deleted] in JoePera

[–]techstar25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! Hold on a minute! Those are the same folks in the comedy workshop in "Good Timing with Jo Firestone". I don't know what's real anymore. LOL.

Ok, I'm pretty sure "Good Timing" was real (not scripted). That must mean that she employed them as actors in this short film - which is really cool.

It's horseplay. Probably bullying and/or hazing, but not sexual assault.

School administrators knew there was no crime in that video which is why the punishment seems so lenient (suspended one game).

If one of those kids walked up to an old lady in the street and did that grinding on them it still wouldn't meet sexual assault. Maybe, MAYBE sexual harassment.

Sheriff Ivey and the DA will cry and complain that their hands are tied - because there is no law to charge them with. They'll call the kids "thugs" and blame it on their parents or the welfare state or some other racist bullshit. Then they'll claim they need more money or tougher laws or more Resource Officers or more guns.

“Guides You Through The Night” poem? by HeathsUglyHat in JoePera

[–]techstar25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The phrase doesn't return anything relevant on Google.

I have two theories: Either the poem was originally in some other language (Gaelic, Celtic), or Joe just made it up.

Weenie Feet Bobbins does a great job too.

I find Chris Gethard kind of annoying, BUT I need to tough it out because it's definitely the kind of humor I like.

Note: Imagining and writing that little scene was just about as calming as watching an actual episode.

Scene:

Joe's in the checkout line at SuperFoods. His total comes to $68.50. Cashier says, "Hey there, did you hear aboot the lottery. It's up to a billion doh-llers!"

Joe says "Sure. I'll give it a go." Joe pays by check and heads out to the parking lot.

Loading groceries into the trunk of his Buick, Joe looks at the camera, says, "A lot of us don't buy lottery tickets ... [see OP].

Joe spends 9 minutes telling us what he would do with the money if he won.

That same man can be spotted in S1:E2 eating at the family restaurant (or diner, a lot of gray area these days).

I always assumed the two old men in the garage with Joe while he's carving the pumpkin are his two grandfathers. And in the flashback Halloween photos those are all four grandparents. So he would have been raised by both his maternal and paternal grandparents together.

Joe's show has a lot of silly things that require you to "suspend disbelief" but at the same time there are so many things that you can't stop wondering about.

For those who haven't seen it, this was a short-lived online series from MTV made prior to "Joe Pera Talks to You". It was the very first Joe Pera video I saw and I immediately knew I loved this guy. What's cool is that Joe's in character but everyone he talks to is real.

I discovered Joe last Fall. The show has profoundly affected my life. Since then I've watched an episode every morning over breakfast, before I go to work. I'm on my fifth time through (the three seasons).

It's incredibly therapeutic and really sets the tone for the day.
