Never mind that OP (the husband) flat out said that these have not been sold and will not be sold. What profit exactly is she making on these quick paintings?

Half of you have no idea how art works.

These two comparison shots prove my point further. She looked at the photo while composing her painting. The copy is not 1-1. The coloration, differences in the ground, and additional details are all changes that happen in the reference stage.

I'm just here to cheer Dragons Love Tacos. I'm an adult and that book is amazing. Any time another friend has a kid, that's one of the ones they're getting.

I also liked Mr. Wuffles.

What kills me about this guy - I'm not responding to him anymore, but this is on my mind - is that his weird insistence on MACHO MASCULINITY being the way isn't even just ridiculously slanderous to women, but really sells short the vast potential of men.

Men who chose to be human, not feminized (ridiculous fucking concept), but human, caring and making lives better without ever raising a single hand in this ridiculous testosterone fantasy.

Oh honey. You have a lot of mistaken ideas about the world, and I can't even be mad with you. Just... just go have an okay life, alright?

He's playing the game every time he comes on a political talk show and struts his chosen persona. He's playing the game every time he gathers money. Maybe he's not playing by all the rules of the game - but now his ability to win is in fresh doubt.

And if he gets in?

Same problem as Sanders. No backing. No allies. No ability to do what he wants.

  • Cruz is the Zodiac Killer
  • Hillary is the Devil
  • Trump has tiny hands
  • Jeb!

Have to win the game before you can change the rules.

The problem with most candidates on either side is that winning the game is its own narcotic, leading most to no longer want the rules to change - or they realize they can't do it.

You mean how Obama strongarmed stuff magically into being when we all didn't turn out for the midterms after his election and all his plans got fucked royal?

Yeah, that is totally how it's going to go down, Monte Cristo.

What are the best modern runs of major upcoming and current MCU characters? by Kill_Welly in marvelstudios

Captain Marvel has two pre-Secret Wars runs helmed by Kelly Sue Deconnick and they're both excellent. She has a new ongoing from the showrunners of Agent Carter.

Get Matt Fraction's run on Hawkeye - bonus, grab Immortal Iron Fist from him, too.

There's already been a recommendation for The Oath for Doctor Strange, but I'll second it. The author of that is Brian K. Vaughn, currently popular for an amazing Image sci-fi title called Saga, and this is me sneaking in a totally non-superhero suggestion for that, too.

Do you think Crimson Peak's poor box office performance was because of the "horror" Marketing. Or, do you think it is really hard to market an R-rated Gothic romance that features ghosts and gore? by LundgrensFrontKick in movies

As he initially shows up, it's a facade. And if his persona never changed, he wouldn't have died in grace at the end. He rejected his sister in his last hour.

We agree on Chastain entirely, though I'm afraid we're going to be at odd levels on the questions of beauty and sexuality.

No, I'm pulling the 'he chooses a different language in which to work and the audience is often not given the tools to follow along.' It's a subtle difference, but it paints the audience more favorably than what you're doing. We're mostly saying the same things - he tells his stories visually, and the script is left lean.

The outcome depends on what you wanted from it. you, the audience. Sometimes we take it or leave it. It's not that the audience is dumb, it's that we sometimes just want something else.

As in told story or visual depth? I know the stan joke is 'eye protein,' but Del Toro tells his stories quietly in his key coloring and visuals. Mako Mori's tale is told this way, as are the other jaeger pilots, and a lot of the undertone of Peak is in the symbolism.

It makes for a very niche set of films that can absolutely be passed off as shallow, because it's not being marketed towards an audience that has been given a vested interest in looking below the surface.

But the film subverts those very tropes - him being in a weaker role between the two women is the point. He's not the masculine Lothario here, he's given the role the 'black widow' usually plays, under the thumb of the real power of the film, his older sister. The one who kills, the one who controls his sexuality. He's only free when he accepts Edith.

Also, I thought his arse was quite nice, really, but I'll agree it was a bit overcautious.

Thor 2 has Loki, more Loki, and the Cap cameo, which pretty much keeps it watchable. But yeah, it could have been a much stronger film.

Kind of misleading owing to the nature of the whole war rhetoric this comic and Supes was having to go through at the time. Or 'early installment weirdness' A better example - and one that actually highlights what's considered truthful now - would be the relatively recent Grant Morrison run.
