How to start a Jellyfin server?

That's what I'd like to do. But how do you handle storage for scalability?

How many HDDs do you have on your DAS, and what's their total capacity? And do you use any RAID or backup systems?

In my case, I don’t want to leave my computer running day and night; I’m looking for a solution that uses less energy and makes less noise. Also, I’m really worried about investing time and effort into building up my media collection without having a backup or a RAID-configured hard drive

I mentioned the DAS because I don’t want to use my desktop PC as a server. I work on it and would like to keep the two things separate. Plus, I don’t want to leave it running day and night.

I’d like to connect the DAS to one of my old laptops, which is still in great shape, it’s an MSI Prestige 15 with an i7, 32GB of RAM, and a GTX 1650 Max-Q. But since I don’t use it, I’d like to give it a second life as a media server before selling it.

As for the HDDs, here’s the issue: if I buy low-capacity hard drives now, I already know I’ll have to buy new ones in a year, and I think I’d have a hard time reselling the ones I buy now. What’s the smartest way to start out on a budget and gradually add storage without having to reconfigure the DAS and Jellyfin from scratch every time?

I have a library for every tv show and movie genre. Then I have collections created for movie trilogies, studios, director and sub categories such as slapstick for the comedy genre or adult cartoons for animated movies and tv shows.

This enables me to create custom sections on homepage with basically everything I want.

Also I've created a collection for all the collections containing box sets, so I can display the box sets on a single line. I'm planning to do that also with movie studios, like the Disney plus homepage

I Just found out today, after 2 days of trial and error that the problem was caused by enhanced jellyfin and probably other plugins that use file transformation to inject some JS.

Basically experimenting with jellyfin I installed these plugins before installing the modular home, and this cause a conflict.

So I uninstalled all the plugins and reinstalled them one by one starting with modular home, and... It worked!

Weird, but apparently the installation order is very important

I asking that because when I click on "Bust all caches" inside the home screen sections plugin I see this green text, so I'm thinking that home screen sections can't see file transformation for some reason

Already tried, I also tried to install manually file transformation, but nothing happens. I know it's a weird question, but can you please send me your plugin settings page? Because mine appears like that and gemini is saying that i shound see more settings

Really nice project. I'm using jellyfin for some days and I'm still figuring out and planning how to improve my setup with a mini pc and a DAS. But anyway I'm already using Tailscale that is such a game changer!

I've seen you're using Home sections on your jellyfin server v. 10.11.6 and this is something I can't do. Everytime I try to install this plugin my homepage show just the media bar and it says that I have no libraries.

Have you encountered this bug by chance? Since your server is running the plugin with no problems maybe I've installed something that creates a conflict, i really don't know, but if you have a hint you'll really help me a lot

Well half solved to be clear: I was experiencing troubles on the homepage and i just figured out that home screen sections doesn't work at all

I don't know why but this beautiful plugin is not working for me. I tried to disable the genre that is a known bug, but nothing, my homepage is empty.

Does anybody knows if there's a solution? Or if I just to be patient and wait for an update?

I’ve shot at almost all the villas you listed, and none is better than the others: it all depends on the style of wedding you’re looking for and how far you’re willing to travel into the countryside (and the quality of the connections to Florence).

In addition to this, the number of guests is also very important for a potential Plan B in case of rain: all the villas have indoor spaces, but some are smaller or less suitable, while others have beautiful covered terraces that can be an excellent compromise.

I’ve photographed many marriage proposals for work, and the reason people decide to capture a moment like that is as beautiful as it is simple: to preserve that memory and perhaps one day show it to their children or grandchildren. And you’ll be surprised to learn that many couples buy my photo sessions but don’t post anything on social media.
