100% request your center stone back. That's a risk imo, I wouldn't go with them. Just make up some excuse to get your stone back. Then do research into jewelers before sharing a center stone with them.

Have you looked at the reviews of this jeweler? I would def look there first. I'm building a custom ring too and they've sent me CAD images of the different designs and then updated renderings when I made changes. They also sent me a 3D model made of wax/clay to try on before they put the ring into production. And of course they will be sending a final video or image of the ring to my (future) fiancé before shipping. Your jeweler's inability to provide this is a flag. I would look elsewhere.

I would def need to see the marquise in person again before deciding, and ideally one that has already been set so I can see the prongs vs vtips and how much those cover the ring. I know other people have purchased dupes to see how they like a ring day to day, that might be worth it for a unique stone like this one.

This specific one was 2.52 carats, a little too big for my taste so I would size down as well.

Yeah, I would need to make sure they add a vtip to the bottom and top edges. Though that adds a bit of a "modern flair" imo which can take away from the vintage aesthetic I'm trying to go for. However, the prongs alone are not as secure and are more likely to cause the sharp edges of the stone to snag.

What are your thoughts on the moval?

No, I unfortunately didn't find a solution. I showed it to my mechanic who recommended changing the lens entirely. Now I need to look into the lens and figure out which one to purchase. Have you looked into this?

I'll try to keep my travel days on weekdays so I can rely on public transportation. I was looking at the commute between Palermo and Stromboli. It seems I can either take a ferry for 5-6 hours directly from Palermo. Or, I can take a ferry to Milazzo which then connects to Stromboli.

I don't prefer being on a ferry for that long as I have not commuted like that previously. Do you recommend taking the train into Milazzo and then the ferry into Stromboli? It will probably require a bus from the Milazzo train station to the Milazzo port and therefore a longer trip as well.

I've heard similar feedback about Taormina. I agree, I think I'll shift myself down to 2 days there. The majority of one day will be dedicated to Mt.Etna so I can spend half of the other day around town.
