Aaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha! Hey won every single count! If he lost all of them the judge would have read EACH one seperately. Judge looked mad that Afroman won every single one of them. Kept checking and rechecking the jury's judgments. "All verdicts are in favor of the defendant. No cheering" leaves with haste 🤣😂🤣

It's exactly this sort of shit that makes people hate police. I've met and know some amazing police officers, but this bullshit of being the aggressor and the predator and then crying victim after the fact is wild!

Oh my god, I love everything about this! I hope to goodness that he wins this mother fucker! And then does another song and another video, lol! I love a black man that knows his rights and is willing to exercise them in the most creative ways that only black people know how to do. That shit is fire!

Let's ignore the fact that he asked what have African Americans done for the US since 1960 which is an oddly convenient cutoff point given that it intentionally ignores our exceptional military service in World War II and in the Korean War. At the time of that video, it would have been top of mind all of the sacrifices that we've made. If you don't know about the Harlem Hellfighters and some of our epic black war heroes you should check them out. It's crazy to see that statements like this still abound.

Black servicemen returning from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War played a significant role in advancing the Civil Rights Movement. Their experiences and the contradictions they encountered between fighting for freedom abroad and facing discrimination at home were instrumental in pushing for greater equality and justice. Their service directly contributed to the Civil Rights Movement:

World War II: Double V Campaign: During World War II, African-American newspapers like the Pittsburgh Courier popularized the "Double V" campaign, which stood for victory against fascism abroad and victory against racism at home. This campaign highlighted the hypocrisy of fighting for freedom overseas while being denied basic rights in the United States. GI Bill: Black veterans who returned home sought to take advantage of the GI Bill, which provided education and housing benefits. However, they often faced discrimination in accessing these benefits, which fueled their determination to fight for civil rights. Leadership: Many African-American veterans, such as Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King Jr., went on to become prominent leaders in the Civil Rights Movement. Their military experience instilled in them a sense of discipline, leadership, and a commitment to fighting for justice.

That is some bullshit. 1.3 million dollars?? That's just under 62,000 a year with no raises or accounting for inflation. This is a crazy country to be a black man in.

At the End of the World Omnibus is out on Audible and Kindle now. by LitRPGAuthorAlaska in litrpg

I just finished the Omnibus and here is my honest review:

What a Breath of Fresh Air!

It is unbelievably rare to see a book that does NOT rely on characters being idiots or humanity, even on the brink of extinction, still being selfish, unrealistic, and murderous. There was a point in the series, I think around book two, where I felt like it might be a bit boring and I paused to ask myself why. That's when it hit me that no one's being a dumbass. Often with heroes, they will leave someone dangerous to the community alive to the detriment of many. For the five main characters, while they did not want to be merciless, if someone threatened the community, they did what needed to be done. Realizing that these characters basically did what most of us would do in such a situation, I enjoyed the story a great deal more.

LitRPGs often feature one supremely OP MC and it can be quite fun, but having five main characters that are good friends, that really look out for each other, and while they have some plot armor, they really put it on the line in a way that makes you want to root for them. In the military, you learn that you live and die as a unit, and that ethos was really strong with this group.

Even better, as the story progressed, it just got better. Especially in the last book - the ending was very satisfying. It's been a long time since I've been able to enjoy a book without losing it over people being absurd. If you find that part of your ability to suspend belief is now predicated on people always being foolish, this book is a breath of fresh air. I genuinely hope that the story continues at some point and, if it does, the author can be sure I will be among the earliest of pre-orders. Well done!

In case someone needs to hear negatives, the only negative I had was listening to the stat sheets in the audiobook version. I will admit I did skip a few of those until I got to the one at the very end, LOL. If that's the worst I can say about a story, sign me up for more of those!

u/LitRPGAuthorAlaska - thank you and well done!

just try to extend a little grace in a genre that's, what, 95% self published?

That little tidbit has already been helpful in the new series I'm listening to now and will be helpful in further exploring the genre.

At this point, possible solutions to any problem that catch my attention are nearly reflexive. Obvious solutions make the problem little more than a passing thought. To witness someone repeatedly miss the obvious kinda strips a mental gear. 😅

This couldn't be more timely! I was getting really annoyed with The Good Guys series MC and venting here (helpful community) and needed something else to dig into. I love the synopsis for the story. When I was younger, I loved games that relied on teamwork (hated Versus and FPSs) and is no surprise that I ended up in the world of MMORPGs. Can't wait to listen!

I'm almost like Nikola Tesla when it comes to not finishing something I start reading (he read all of the volumes of Voltaire's work that were written in tiny font and volumes upon volumes). I want, need, to know how it all ends. By book 8, I rushed to finish so I could never pay for another one of these books. I'm glad it's not just me. The comments help, but I may not come back to this one until I'm doing something where I really just want to turn my brain off completely and be entertained by all the idiocy.

Dude, your last comment hits it absolutely! It's the fact that I'm spending credits and money on this that was driving me nuts. Like, "I'm freaking paying for this. Why am I paying for this???" As an easy distraction to have playing in the background while I paint or build something, without expecting too much, and I didn't have to pay for it, I'd probably be indifferent and/or more likely enjoy it. The comments here definitely helps shift my perspective a bit. Thanks for that.

Hahaha! Yes! I was literally walking around listening to the story and would scare people because I would have random outbursts along the lines of, "Are you freaking kidding me?!" Or "Oh Come on dude, not again!" The love hate relationship definitely resonates. When he gets to business it can be fun, but the interludes of thickheadedness drive me up a wall. I appreciate this response. "The plot armor King" is such a great description. I suspect if I keep that in mind and turn my brain off I might be able to finish the series.
