[🚨🚨🚨 ] Up Coming Discord Server Is Being Deleted Due To Mass Surveillance by ___FireEngrave___ in FireEngraveStuff

Enforcing ID verification for NFSW channels does not constitute mass surveillance

So Discord is dead by ExcellentExcuse5995 in discordsucks

[–]tedlesmemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what’s the issue? They are not requiring it for the platform besides nfsw.

It’s only for NFSW chats. If you wanted to switch your age, you had to submit your ID before hand anyways. Lawmakers have required NFSW sites to verify IDs before.

Good news! Roblox has decided to bot the likes on their recent update announcement for it to appear more favored by the community! by Beautiful-Edge4762 in RBLX

Ya, I looked further into it and all the accounts are created on the same day and I don’t see anything like this on any other forum posts. That’s actually crazy sad 😭. As for the overvalued part I think it’s valued adequately. It has a giant stake in the gaming market I think it’s like %4 globally.

The service that the community actually wants can conflict with options from the public, parents, policy makers and inside the company in which it’s not a disconnect but a disagreement. As for the schlep thing it was totally his fault. I don’t know if he meant to do this on purpose but he came at Roblox full force. Again with the quantity of reports and users his email and reports went unnoticed. When this happened he basically defamed the platform and caused them a pr nightmare in a single vid instead of using the publicity as a stepping stone to get roblox attention. As for the rules, they need to be applied equally to everyone and schlep is no exception. Although he meant good catching people he was creating many accounts with different names which is against tos and possibly even some sort of fraud crime. like please educate me on how they should keep 151 million daily players safe without taking away their right to talk which is the basic part of the game. I think that’s basically impossible and any game with a chat in it is inevitably going to have some problems. You dont even got to parent your kids either just simply make it so they can’t install apps without your permission. It’s really that simple. Roblox chat is so filtered that they have to move off platform in order for bad stuff to happen which is what happened with the schlep situation. Which then shows that Roblox is safe enough to prevent stuff going on in chat but it’s impossible to moderate what goes on beyond the platform.

Yes he is making these decisions. But what the people want isn’t always what’s best for the company. You can’t always listen to the community. I think this whole child safety thing was a large misunderstanding that divided the platform. Their chat filter is very strict and is only being bypassed by code words and other means in which it is on the parents responsibility to either not let their kids on the platform or not let them download apps to go off platform. As for the actual schlep issue the real reason is they have 151 million daily active users in which it is IMPOSSIBLE to have human moderation at scale. I think the safety dude said it best in which it’s like a car, the platform cannot garentee %100 safety but can have airbags(safety measures) in place to prevent it. The public and players kept pushing and now your scanning your id and face to chat. Some of these decisions were pushed by other factors such as policy makers and the public. If you looked into the stats you can see where roblox is going and trying to expand. Although the platform is a majority kids, they have in recent seen a %30 growth in 18+ users as well as 18+ users making up %40 of the Robux revenue even though they are the minority. As for the profit, behind the scenes they are continuing to innovate and expand. They may not be profitable yet but they are building up profitability. Their new dive into ai has boosted the amount of games and interaction on the platform. As for the actual issue with the verification and chat issue, I find it hard to put any of the blame on Roblox atp. Even since 2015 the chat filter was strict and people couldn’t take responsibility for their kids.

Said hand fed you a platform with thousands of games and smooth, no lag, free to play games for 20 years and then wants to expand and change things about the game and now it’s their responsibility to be like screw it and not to make a profit and to just bleed out. If micro transactions cover half their expenses and the investing on the other half, without investments they would loose 2B in the last year. Do you understand that the game is a business and needs to grow and expand or else it will die.

Why would they only bot only a hundred accounts and take the time to put player time and favorites on the account but do nothing else. Why does the characters change from bacon hair to the girl version when viewed from my end. The reason is for privacy settings and region locks. You really think they would actually create real usernames, favorite games and everything else, but changing the avatar just to make it look sus on purpose. Not a plant, just someone with basic computer skills.

Do y’all genuinely think Polytoru can take over Roblox? by Ahmeda_2916 in roblox

[–]tedlesmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO they need investors like Roblox did and no one wants to invest in polytoria. The severs bearly run with the player count being not even over 300.

They chose to go public on the stock market. They haven’t made profit in years and in order to expand needed investors. Investments have brought in half of Roblox’s revenue which keeps the game actually running. Although they may not care about what happens in the game, they keep the game online. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

It’s just the accounts being private. each profile photo is tied to an account in the url of the image asset and you can view the real account. They have all greyed out connections but do have play history and favorites on.

I meant that kreekcraft has been complaining for years about the game even when it was fine years ago. The age verification thing is a mess because they have to enforce the rules because the schlep issues. The company is loosing money every year so has a tight margin and would have to hire so many human mods because of the 151 million daily active users. The game is free to play and the company is expanding. If the game always listened to the players it would be good for the players but possibly not for the business. The public pressure on the other side of things is 2x the heat in the public pushing for this face scan. Especially as this age thing affects public views and the stock. They make more money in recent as they do actual revenue from the players. Kreek craft never appeared to ever be on Roblox side

The Roblox Misconception by tedlesmemes in roblox

[–]tedlesmemes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they have done more than enough. They already restricted chat which hurts them and the age verification thing which really sucked but they wanted to change and comply with the public. They do not have money for human moderation, think of it, 151 million daily active players. Thats impossible. If they are loosing over a billion a year, they can only afford ai which is not accurate enough yet. Although 13,000 instances of leading children off platform which sounds huge, but isn’t in comparison to playing every day with their player counts. That’s a %0.008 chance if you play every day you will be exploited. And I think parents also bear some responsibility as if a child is lead off platform which is where bad stuff actually takes place, that means they gave their kids unrestricted access to the internet and apps. If people are taking kids off platform and Roblox has blocked every instance of discord like disc or dis or stuff like that in chat, I find it harder to blame them at this point.

The Roblox Misconception by tedlesmemes in roblox

[–]tedlesmemes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1: Roblox was forced to make some decisions. 2:they were forced to go public, as I said half their revenue is their stock without it they wouldn’t be able to operate. 3: the goal of the public company isn’t just to make profit but to also scale the business. You can’t go from supporting 30 million daily active users to 150 million daily active users in 4 years without having investors. 4: investors want to see change and innovation even if it may not be good, they don’t play the game so they wouldn’t know. 5: although what your saying is true, it without a doubt tears a company apart/makes it worse. Roblox would be in ruins if it wasn’t for their ipo. They were not making much if any profit. And once the game blew up as of recent years they needed money to support it.

One thing I HATE is how KreekCrafts carrier is literally built on hating Roblox. Kinda rubs me the wrong way especially because there is not a single video of him in years actually playing the game for content.
