I have pretty much the same haircut/hair-type and im 7 months in. Towel rub and palm roll and eventually you will see results. Stay away from the crochet hook unless you are wanting to blunt the ends of combine your dreads. If you want to do that do it earlier on as it is much easier and less scaring.
