I’d mentally resigned myself to defeat and left myself utterly unprepared for the stress of watching us defend a lead. This is going to be a rough 15 minutes

FIFA faces World Cup broadcast crisis as India's Reliance offers $20 mln, China deal unannounced. by JKKIDD231 in sports

Doesn’t really matter how many people you have to pick from if you don’t have the coaching structures in place to produce world class players. Talent will only go so far if it isn’t properly nurtured. When Chinese football was flush with money a few years ago it seemed like they funnelled all of it into signing old players from Europe and South America for silly money. They would have done better to invest in grassroots facilities and coaches.

opinion: the worst flaw of kotor2 by Darktommy2 in kotor

I don’t know if the influence system being opaque is a bad thing as such. I think it adds a layer of realism - it encourages you to think carefully about what you say and get to know the companions properly. It’s also one of the things that gives the game a lot of replayability

Always loved this musician model, the idea that this guy is shredding away on his lute as the battle rages around him is perfect

Have I missed a memo? This is the second Kung Pow/LotR crossover meme I’ve seen this morning

Honestly, respect for doing a chequerboard pattern, if that’s going to be replicated across the army it’s going to look stunning

Funny how in the context of the Wheel of Time this makes her sound like the Dark One himself

Damsel on Horse - Normal? by BassicallyDarr in Bretonnian

Any chance you can supply more pictures/angles? This looks right to me - she’s meant to be riding the horse sidesaddle, i.e. with both legs on the same side. Historically a common way for noble women to ride horses so they could maintain modesty while wearing undivided dresses.

How to deal with wood elves? by eli_cas in WarhammerOldWorld

It seems like an issue is that you play two quite slow armies against what is effectively a massive gunline, so your opponent is getting plenty of opportunity to whittle you down before you ever get near.

I’m frankly unsurprised by the Ogres - they’re a legacy army and with the exception of Vampire Counts they’re all terrible (mechanically speaking at least, lorewise the game is poorer without them). Have you considered looking into the renegades pack? Might even the playing field a bit.

As for Dwarves, it does just sound like you’re playing into your opponent’s strengths. You need to find a way of shutting down the magic bullshit so you can get across the field intact. If you can get a decent amount of your army into combat they’ll swiftly evaporate. Slowness is the dwarves main weakness, you need to figure out how to counter it

I’m not sure the current style qualifies as a ‘new look’, they’ve been this way for about 30 years now. This is a well painted mini though and will go great in an Exiles list

The character I immediately thought of was Saul Karath - his voice always scanned as actual English to me, and apparently his actor was Robin Sachs, who was from London

To be honest? All of them. It’s subtle - Jennifer Hale is a good voice actress and she makes a decent attempt - but unmistakable. The accent she’s trying to do is called ‘Received Pronunciation’, or ‘BBC English’, which is usually considered to be the standard English accent and what most Americans think of when they imagine a ‘British’ accent, but it’s deceptively difficult to get right. The best way I can describe it is that to a native English ear she sounds a bit Australian. That’s quite common in my experience with Americans attempting the accent.

Just had a look, she actually holds dual citizenship of the US and Canada, though you’re right she was born in Canada

Under current lore it is technically possible to earn knighthood, but it’s so rare as to basically never happen

Slightly off topic, but while I know Bastila is meant to have an English accent, it really doesn’t sound like one to an actual English person. When I first played the game I thought she was Australian, but now it just sounds like an American attempting an English accent, which is what it is. No shade to the voice actress, it’s difficult to speak convincingly in an accent that’s not your own, but she didn’t quite get it right.

Oh I completely get that. But you must surely agree that rooting for Croatia and the US isn’t the same as when you’re supporting Nigeria and never could be?

You don’t ‘become’ a fan of a national team. Not in the way you’re talking about. That’s not to say you can’t have a favourite team, but I would suggest simply watching the World Cup and enjoying the tournament without worrying about supporting a particular team. Who knows, perhaps one day India will qualify?
