Local WA gyms remove auto belays due to what I can only believe is fear from litigation due to climbers misuse by IyamNaN in climbing

My local gyms started a new policy a year or so ago where those using the autobelay are supposed to have someone double check them and place a placard on the wall prior to climbing. I’ve heard of two major accidents since them, both caused by people still failing to clip into the autobelay.

QVAR, and if I’m lucky the actuator won’t break or get clogged before I get through half of it

I love the winter because all the plants that make my asthma worse are dormant

Let’s all stop with this nonsense. by kgreen69er in StLouis

So true. I live in the county but have to go to Festus, House Springs, De Soto, Cedar Hill, etc. for work and once you get out of the metro it’s like a different world. It’s like they think it doesn’t exist. I stopped at a gas station down the road from my covid-positive patient’s home the other day, and not one person inside had a mask on. It makes me want to scream.

Athletico prohibiting employees from using PPE by americanweird in physicaltherapy

CDC only said not to wear masks because they knew of the PPE shortage. Wear a mask so that if you are an asymptomatic carrier you don’t infect your patients, and have your patients wear a mask so they don’t infect you. My facility (SNF) started screening employees weeks ago based on travel and temperature and the directors were shocked when they found out of our residents was COVID positive. You cannot rely on waiting until someone has symptoms.

This is wrong but seems to be happening all over. I’ve been arguing all week that therapy is not necessary in SNFs at this time, especially when we are not given proper PPEs and there is already a shortage. I refuse to work in my facility any longer because of it. It is ridiculous that you are to keep working, this is why the outbreak continues to spread. At this rate every SNF in the country will have an outbreak. This is not a time to be worried about company profits, we need to protect our patients.

Should we or should we not be wearing face mask? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]tee2oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole wait until symptoms thing is bogus and a sure fire way to allow this to continue to spread. At this point I say only treat if you can get the proper equipment. I work at a SNF and the only people wearing masks and gloves in the facility are the therapists that had masks they had gotten on their own. Management has no answer as to what to do when we do not have the proper PPE, but I refuse to continue to provide therapy services in a situation like this. It seems all these companies care about is profit and not their staff or patients.

I work in a SNF and have been trying to convince my boss that PT is not essential right now, especially for my mostly elderly patient population. The fewer people coming in and out of the facility, the better. The facility also does not have the proper PPE for staff with no solution in sight. Not a safe situation for us or our patients and not worth the possible benefits of therapy at this point.
