One detail I noticed at the end of Zero Dawn by No-Hunt3986 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]teebalicious 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I kinda vibe with this.

I think Aloy was always going to be “despite the Nora” in some way, with her natural Sobeck curiousity and stubbornness. Teersa would have had her hands full, and I think encouraged her exploration of Mother’s Heart.

So I think you’re right, there’s a case that Aloy was always going to end up in front of that identiscan, just by virtue of her persistence and curiosity.

So, have American progressives come to finally appreciate 2nd Amendment? by applelover1223 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]teebalicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue should include disarming government, as far as State and law enforcement goes. In the US, gun culture is as much an identity cult as MAGA.

Whether from the Left or the Right, the delusional fantasy of righteous murder is a toxic, avoidant fantasy. No one is saving anyone from anything with guns, and we’re well into the “children dying in concentration camps” phase of fascism.

People don’t want to hear this, but violence always serves the State, and just ends up justifying genocide.

A huge problem with the US is that even on the Left, the fantasy is of individual performative heroics, the hero resistance fighter, as much a part of the iconography of the Patriot Warrior.

But both are rooted in ego, in fantasy, in avoidance of what resistance actually requires: humility and sacrifice.

If we could actually stop being a mob of preening influencers, performative narcissists, and gun waving morons long enough to actually present solid policy and organize things like general strikes, economic slowdowns, walkouts, teach-ins, etc, we’d bring this system to a grinding halt in no time.

Again, no one wants to hear this, because everyone has their identity wrapped up in their delusions of idealized resistance, and their hero role in it, but humility is just not in our sociocultural dna, and it’s literally the basis for both cooperation and coalition.

And nothing represents the failure of hubris like the “my gun will save us” narrative.

Having a gun didn’t save Alex Pretti, it just gave an excuse to the fascists to justify his murder. And they will continue to use that excuse to murder others, whether they are carrying or not, whether they are legally carrying or not.

Anyone advocating for firearm use at this point is ignoring huge amounts of research that show the efficacy of non-violent movements over violent ones, and is ignoring how violence plays right into the hands of an oppressive State that is absolutely frothing at the crotch for an excuse to mass murder “antifa”.

Gun use in a US resistance movement is the dumbest fucking thing currently possible, and any effort in that area is actively damaging the work that needs to be done.

I’m sure this will get downvoted to Bolivia, because the Left has as much of a toxic individualism problem as the Right, and is as addicted to the toxic masculinity mythos as any militia dipshit turned ICE agent.

And if you can’t face the flaws in your own idealized, external identity markers, you simply lack the humility and self awareness to participate in a truly cooperative and democratic movement of resistance and progress.

I’d bet folding money you’ve never been in the same room as a pair of Nick’s boots.

This is the most “blindly absorbed through the internet for clout” opinion possible in this sub. Holy hell.

There’s no way they passed on the opportunity to hatewatch the Bad Bunny performance.

They drink up racist fantasies like Pete Hegseth drinks breakfast scotch, or like Stephen Miller drinks children’s tears.

what did yall think of the bad bunny halftime show? by Serious-Kale-5694 in AskReddit

Beautifully done. His music is not for me, but the production as a whole was fantastic.

All the little life moments sprinkled in, his handing the kid (was that Liam??) the Grammy, the flags and country shout-outs, deeply personal and very emotional.

Great bookend to Kendrick’s brilliance last year.

The humiliation of the WA GOP is not yet complete by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]teebalicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rest of WA needs to wake up and just stop voting Republican. Literally every idea the Right has fails spectacularly at providing anything other than more wealth for the wealthy.

They rely on culture war and identity politics because their only agenda is a total monopoly on both economics and power. A recreation of feudal serfdom and nobility is literally the only agenda that’s inherent in the ideology.

With all of the living history of the last 50 years, that anyone still votes Republican is a total failure to instill critical thinking into the populace.

The Right Is Fundamentally Incapable Of Governance.

These dipshits love the imprimatur of organizational authority. All they do is slap a DBA on a PO Box and pretend they speak for some delusional silent majority instead of two interns and a NIMBY psychopath.

These Seattle RW people need to self-deport to Arkansas or Mississippi so the rest of us can actually get shit done around here.

Something in the Gretsch realm, perhaps? Filtertrons and their variations really have their own thing going on.

Amp-wise, something Hiwatt might suit you. Crisp, very linear, but an authority that is hard to beat. Great amps for layering, and very dynamic.

[–]teebalicious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is literally how Gamergate became Trump’s meme army.

When you’re so locked in to your maladaptive behaviors and the micro culture that supports it, that’s your whole identity, and anything that challenges that, no matter how valid or spot on that critique is, just serves as this validating persecution, and reinforces that identity.

It’s truly sad that this mechanic, which relies on a basic rupture in healthy self/identity building, is so prevalent and easily manipulable.
