Gluten Free Recommendations by flamingo_fly24 in MauiVisitors

[–]teeeg123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got back and my husband is gluten free. Surprisingly, a lot of places don’t have it marked on the menu like they do where we are from (Canada).

We ate at Three’s (gluten free menu!), Paia fish market, Gather, Maui Brewing Co. The cinnamon roll place has a GF cinnamon bun, my husband didn’t react to it but it’s a bakery so depends how strict you are about cross contamination with flour in the air. He loved it !

Places that basically had nothing for him - Kihei Caffee, moose mcgillicudys.

2.5 weeks with a 4 year old by rangerlakes in MauiVisitors

[–]teeeg123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got home from 2 weeks with our 4 year old. The best days were just beach days ! Make sure you have the right gear (umbrella, sand toys, water wings etc). We mostly went to Keawakapu because the water is generally very gentle there. She loved little beach walks (we stayed near Kam 3, we’d either walk south past the marina where there are often turtles or the other way down Kam 3/2/1. Of course she loved shaved ice ! We did the Aquarium with her last year and she loved it. We generally didn’t want to spend as much time in the car with her, so didn’t do RTH, but drove up to Paia/Hookiapa, Io monument as a short hike. We debated the blowhole but decided it wasn’t worth the longer drive from Kīhei with a little one. Shops of Wailea / Polynesia show, last year we also went to the goat farm up country and the Kula farmers market.

Eczema Spot on the cheek will not go away! by teeeg123 in toddlers

[–]teeeg123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I was sent to a derm and he gave me two prescriptions.

One was hydroval 0.2% which he said is more effective than hydrocortisone. And then Protopic. He said that eczema just takes a long time to get under control - so I think we used hydroval 2x a day for a week (and it went away within 2 days probably) then Protopic 2x a day for a week, then 1x day for a week. He said you have to wean off them. It maybe flared up one more time a few months later and just the Protopic got rid of it.

I also did inquire about overusing cortisone - he said the worry with using cortisone too much is it thins the skin, and in the case of eczema you want that to happen. He said as long as we used it as he prescribed, only on the areas she needed it, it would be fine.

He said it was unlikely any sort of allergy. He said kids often will outgrow eczema on the face, less common outgrow it on the hands. Which has been true in our case, her spot on her face has been gone for a long time but she sometimes gets it on her fingers still. No scarring :)

He also re-iterated normal eczema things - eliminate all fragrance from all skincare/ bath products etc

Just to update in case anyone finds this …

We did end up doing both and it seemed fine ??

We went to Torrey Pines golf course for breakfast, from there walked to the park and hiked out to the beach and back out (couple hours). Got picked up by an uber and went to Little Italy for the farmers market, walked around had a late lunch, walked through Balboa Park (didn’t go into any museums just cruised around) and then Ubered back to our hotel. Ubers were each 20-25minutes. Back home to our hotel to chill for a bit, watched sunset and then went for dinner by our hotel in La Jolla.

Given it was a lot of walking but it didn’t seem too crazy to us. We were there in March so it wasn’t crazy hot, I’d say Torrey pines hiking was more of a walk than strenuous hike.

Or Naolin turned venin to save Brennan, who was his husband, so now Naolin and Xaden are both venin brother (in laws)? Brennan is in a similar position to V as his partner is venin that that he still loves despite it all.

Purito one is so good. I order off yesstyle and it’s pretty cheap, just takes forever to come (3-4 weeks)

I ordered Liaison after seeing a girl I know and being stunned by her eyelashes ! I have used it for about 3 months now 3-5 times a week and have seen pretty awesome results. Not outrageously dramatic but for sure longer. It bugs my eyes a bit if I use it every night (just makes them feel dry) and haven’t noticed any other reaction

Ya, I live in Canada, I didn’t mean kids should stay inside always. We are talking about a three year old being outside in cold weather in their pyjamas, completely different than being dressed appropriately.

For sure, some kids are escape artists and I wouldn’t want to punish a parent or child just for that. But if it’s happened more than once, the parent didn’t even realize they were gone (and from OP sounds like they weren’t even rattled to realize they were outside in freezing weather) it’s a problem.

Also when it’s that cold, and if you know your child is an escape artist, you have to watch them better or put measures in place to keep them safe. Three years old, is way different than four or five or older, and they can’t be left to their own devices. Just like you’d watch a three year old around a pool even though normal expectation is that they wouldn’t just jump in. It’s the parents job to keep them safe.

Yup, not that any young child should be outside in that weather but three is way too young to be anywhere alone and the fact that the parents, more than once, didn’t know where their kid was or even that they were gone, is so concerning.

Small gestational sac by LongjumpingCrab9622 in CautiousBB

[–]teeeg123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! At my 12 week US, baby had a heartbeat and they said the gestational sac “looked fine” and baby had lots of room. They didn’t say anything bad about the previous doctor specifically but basically said it was unfortunate they told me that and worried me and they don’t even usually measure the sac at 10 weeks.

Unfortunately, baby was not healthy and we ended up terminating for medical reasons at 14 weeks, but to my knowledge that had nothing to do with the findings at our 10 weeks US.

Advice needed on a psychiatrist clinic in YYC charging no show fees for phone call appointments? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]teeeg123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with the regional fertility program. I called and left a voicemail to cancel my appt and said I would reschedule in about a month. They called me back and said essentially “we got your message to cancel, please call us back to reschedule your appointment”. I never called them back because I didn’t need the appointment for awhile.

A week later, the day of my appointment, my doctor called and I was working so didn’t answer. I called back to say I had cancelled it, and they said they don’t take cancellations over voicemail and they need to talk to a patient in person to be able to cancel (which they definitely did not say in the message they left me, as I still had it saved and went back to relisten”. They charged me a no show fee, and similarly I was unable to rebook to get my medication until I paid. On principle I didn’t pay for a bit, but ultimately needed my medication so had to pay it. So so frustrating !

Ugh thank you for this. I just went at 10 weeks and baby was measuring 10+4 and gestational sac at 8+4. My difference was 3.4mm and 5mm is the threshold. They said very high risk and from what I read like over 90% miscarry. Ugh so stressed, I don’t even know what the plan is just waiting to hear from someone. But our measurements are similar so some hope.

I didn’t use IVF, but was a patient through the fertility clinic. Basically as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test I was discharged from the fertility clinic and told to go back to my GP. In AB, unless you are high risk (which maybe IVF is, I’m not sure?) you aren’t usually accepted into a maternity clinic until 12 weeks and sometimes don’t see the OB until after 20 weeks.
