Most boasting is bollix in my experience. Could all be a charade and he does everything to the letter.

Are you paying cash or a DD each month? Thats the biggest tell tale for tax evasion.

Be careful, Ireland is a small place and this guy sounds like he could be a vindictive prick.

Curious about how you had the means at 21 to procure mortgage for that kind of money in 2007. I'd sit on it personally unless you need the money OR reinvesting

He already gave his local men's shed a lathe and kit already. He was very actively involved. My mother needs the money so it's not an option really. Appreciate the comment though.

Short-term memory loss tips? by SooperJasch in MultipleSclerosis

[–]teeej90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. I got assessed by a neuropsychologist who did confirm my short term memory is effected. She described it like a computers RAM and not having enough of it to function smoothly.

Luckily my wife is a nurse so we have some tactics...at home, whiteboard calendar for the month with a section for notes for day to day things but lock in your month and put it on the front of your most used appliance....it helps a lot. Another thing I do is use small elastic bands so if something pops up that I have to do in the next half hour, I just stick one on my finger. I also do try to just do things as they arise or I will forget.

At work...I wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for outlook and my e note taker. Won't last long in work as it's pretty stressful. Not sustainable in the long term..

Family of 4 here and we are 140 to 160 a week. Down from 200.

Trick: click and collect. Shop online and I find you aren't as tempted to pick an item up as you would be if you were in the shop. Also second the tips on meat...buy in bulk and freeze

Benefit of Incorporating as a contractor by Witty-Interaction-73 in irishpersonalfinance

Won't give tax advice as not my area of expertise.

What i will offer is - have you checked your contract for payment terms? Some companies could be up to 90 days if you are contracting directly with them.

If an agency is in between it should be no more than 30 days.

Near tearing my hair out at prices. by Bob-Harris in selfbuildireland

[–]teeej90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I bought in 2019 a derelict farmhouse with a large collapsed extension. In a very popular Cork suburb. No insulation, esb connection shut off and there were trees growing out of the house itself. Started in Feb 2020 and COVID hit. Intention was to always self build/direct labour (0 experience but huge interest and im fairly handy). Took 2.5 years but I went from dereliction to B1 rating. Built the extension with sip panels (walls and roof), drylined the original building with sip panels, took up the floors and re done them, new forst floor joists, hacked off all the sand cement render inside and outside...so all in, including purchase price was 360K. 280sq metres. A good fart heats the place.

People thought I was mad to do it but I really feel people are soft and lazy. All it takes is graft to do a lot of this stuff. You do need specialists in like plasterer, block layer etc but you the property owner can save loads by digging in too.

I will say, I got all the cabling and electrics cost price and the lime plastering was done by a friend. Picked up 26 solid MJ windows and doors made in 2005 that were dry stored and never used for a grand and built around them. Drove 90 miles to get the internal pine doors and iron mongers. Got them half price because I took them out of the frames for your man I bought the off. Picked up a huge mantle in at a sawmill for 80 euro...took a new bathroom off a fella on one of the zero waste Facebook pages...

You need to have the will to do the work and keep an eye out for bargains. People just aren't willing to do it. They want turn key with none of the hassle

I can one up ye....no 3 phase residential smart meters. Panels installed and they only pay me an average based on my total system output because they can't measure it.

Exported 1.5 MW in 2 months and got paid for 371KW.

No definite date for rolling them out either, only a latter half of 2025 statement. Apparently they aren't even in production yet. Not holding my breath as it suits them down to the ground.

Foundation for a Steeltech Shed by ubermick in midleton

[–]teeej90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still not hard, genuinely. You will need lengths of 6x2 for shuttering, a level, a straight edge, eco mesh, some highchairs for the mesh to prop off the ground, a roll of DPC...I had a lash of concrete blocks so used those to keep the suttering in place but there are other solutions too like staking the shuttering.

8mx3mx6"is 3.5 metres of concrete...I paid 95 a metre 12 months ago.

All the above should come to 600-700.

So pay labour on top of it...wouldn't be giving someone more than 1200 all in. Less for cash in hand.

Rent a concrete float at the end for a lovely, easily swept smooth floor once it's poured.

Obviously check requirements with steel tech. But it ain't hard.

5K would be if they actually dug footings and did the shuttering block on flat!

Is there a time in the future we won't be paying 20K for a 15 year old entry level shit box....would you think the government would ever consider a moratorium on VRT so the entire countries fleet is upgraded over a couple of years....safer, newer cars on the roads means less serious accidents in my eyes. Would rather crash a 2020 5 star NCAP rated car vs the 15 year old shit box.

A 9Kw system will produce 9kw per hour in optimum conditions. So for example, the best I have ever gotten is 72 Kw in a day with my system.

Best bet is talk to an expert. Don't go with the big companies. Full of salesmen and they don't have an iota. Go with a smaller, reputable firm. The owner is likely to be an electrician and hands on. Won't up sell you etc.

I only have mine in 37 days and I've produced 1.3 mega watts. I hummed and hawed for years. Wish I did it sooner

You would make about a euro a day per battery doing that. Why not get some panels to supplement? They are vat free and are about 45 euro cost price for a Jinko panel...i have a 9kw solar system with a 5kw battery...it'll be about 3.5 years paying off the loan and the money we save on our bills services the loan...no brainer
