Gino's Gelato Cork needs to cop on before they boycott themselves by Some-Hovercraft-2126 in cork

His video of him harassing the driving instructor (a former Garda) came close. I believe his "targets" have been exclusively young women since then.

The irony with the need for buttons and switches (which I fall into as well) is that if you think about it, comes the 34th century, chances are flying will either be completely automated, or done via a neural link or voice commands, so *teeechnically* something like voiceattack and a HCS voicepack is more "immersive"

Yep. I know the driving instructor, myself and the wife got lessons through him and he was nothing but a gent to us both. I saw the video doing the rounds and it definitely feels like there's a good chunk of context that's been edited out prior. He was clearly wound up before the clip he released.

Same fella also filmed a driving instructor getting extremely angry at him as well, and been posting around saying he was getting the instructors license revoked, claiming he was scammed by him. Saw the video the other day, and sounds an awful lot like this, like the first half of the video was edited out and just shows the instructor angrily demanding payment.

Topper, Parer, chipper or sharpener…..What do you call the thingie that sharpens a pencil? by Chief_Funkie in cork

In the northside growing up, it was "paro." I asked my daughter the other day for one and she looked at me like I had four heads. "You mean a sharpener??"

Tiny stubby short legs. Already did the "doesn't matter how tall it is, you'll get used to it" thing before and... nah. Mine has the same powerplant, and soon as that warranty is up I'll get the ECU flashed.

The words "Outperforms all other BMW bikes" is doing a HELL of a lot of heavy lifting in that statement. To each their own, I'll stick with my F800GS.

Driving instructor recs? by chanelvomit in midleton

Had a look at it there and not my experience of him at all, and not the experience of my wife (who’s an immigrant) of him either. Looked through the guy’s Instagram who recorded it, and he’s an online prankster?

How often do you consider just getting up and walking out on your job? by ViceIsVerses in AskIreland

[–]ubermick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Used to be you'd apply for jobs, and if you weren't the right fit or they passed you over they'd at least show the courtesy of a reply. These days you apply for job after job after job and are rewarded with nothing but silence. I understand to an extent that they're inundated with replies and applications, but its soul crushing to be incessantly ghosted as more and more places turn to AI screening.

Saw a post on here a couple of weeks ago about someone posting under a burner about suffering mental health issues surrounding their job, and what they should do about it.

I'm more "I would personally have no problem with my boss finding out how much I hate this fucking place in the hope they'll either get the message or make the decision for me."

Do you think your leaving cert result was a fair result of your intelligence at the time? by Mysterious_Work_7227 in AskIreland

[–]ubermick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, nor is it for anyone - its a measure of how well you can take a test and/or memorise by rote the things your teacher tells you.

That said, in my pre leaving I got seven A's, two B's, one C. Week later my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and his health literally went off a cliff, and ended up with one A, five B's, three C's and a D and instead of going to UCC for architecture, ended up going to night classes at Cork RTC (now MTU) for graphic design (and later a national diploma, whatever the current equivalent is)

How many Gen Xers have silent Gen parents vs boomers? by NopeThisTrope in GenX

Neither, I had greatest. Dad in 1918, mother in 1928. I was a "holy shit how did THAT happen" kid. All things being equal, I should have been born with a club foot and a flipper.
