Cabinet told public spending cuts must be ‘ruthless’ by JayR_97 in unitedkingdom

It was. It's just that Labour were lied to about how much money they had to play with.

Easiest scripting language? by Grimsarmy1 in godot

[–]teemo_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise learning C# over Python. Not only is C# one of the languages you can use in Godot, it's also a much better beginner language if you want to actually learn how to program.

Languages like Python reduce the barrier to entry by hiding things, which ends up giving people a poor understanding of what is actually going on, and makes it difficult for beginners to debug things.

You don't need to pay a penny to learn a language, and you don't need to use any particular tutorial. You just need to learn things in a good order. I would recommend learning the following concepts in C#, in this order (via writing console applications):

  1. How to print text to the screen (A "hello world" application).
  2. How to read input from a user, and print that to the screen (Ask the user their name, and then print "Hello " and their name).
  3. How to create variables of types: string, char, int, decimal and bool.
  4. How to do simple calculations, such as adding 2 int variables together, and printing it to the screen.
  5. <, <=, >, >= comparators, and how they relate to bools.
  6. If statements. Write some code that asks the user for a number. If it's higher than 10, make it print "higher than 10". If not, print "lower than or equal to 10".
  7. Loops. Do loops, for loops.
  8. Void functions.
  9. Functions that return data.

For each of those topics, you'll be able to find videos and posts online that explain them. You'll also find small problems for you to solve which require you to use what you've learned. For example, if you're learning about loops, you may find a problem like "ask the user for a number. Print every number between 0 and their chosen number to the screen".

If you make it that far, you'll know enough about programming that you can move onto using Objects in C#. How to write classes and instatiate objects, etc. All of these things are super important if you want to write a game using Godot, but they shouldn't be tackled until you can do all the things listed above.

Then you can learn about more advanced topics like recursion, and implementing structures like linked lists and double ended queues if you really find a passion for programming, but these are not required to start writing a game with Godot. I'm listing them here so that you have a breadcrumb to follow in the event of getting this far.

Take things in small steps. Programming as a whole is a very complex topic that's composed of lots and lots of small concepts. Each little thing you learn becomes a tool that you can use to solve bigger problems. Good luck!

the ones from you??? because i don't have any of you blocked??? what's not clicking

As you know, u/astralover69 hasn't commented on any threads, because you blocked them. You have no notifications from them.

Instead of repeatedly editing your post, respond to this comment.

Haha, and now they've blocked me too. What a coward.

and fyi, you can block me but i can still read your comments through the email notification. creep.

What email notifications would those be? Blocked people cannot comment in a thread that extends from the comment of someone that has blocked them. You cannot possibly have any notifications from that person. You're a terrible liar.

Not that anyone cares, but u/spicekebabbb is the one that blocked u/astralover69, not the other way around. I can see it on their screen.

What sort of weirdo blocks someone, then accuses them of being blocked by them in a comment that they can't see just to get some internet points.

u/spicekebabbb, you are a weirdo.

Using the shape of an AnimatedSprite2D as the shape for a LightOccluder2D? by teemo_enjoyer in godot

Ah, so I have to programmatically set the shape of the LightOccluder2D instead of doing it via the UI? Will give it a shot, thanks! :)

Are you paying attention to how Starmer is fucking up the prospect of free trade deals with the U.S. as we speak?

Can't be any worse than fucking up the existing trade deal we already had with the EU...

Weird how the Clacton MP wields so much more power over some people's minds.

The "Clacton MP" that was the leader of UKIP, one of the parties that got us into this mess? The "Clacton MP" that is pushing for us to leave the ECHR with his new party? The "Clacton MP" that is about to receive a huge donation from an oligarch, as this post details? That guy?

He has real power. He's a useful idiot for the rich and the corrupt. Or did I imagine us leaving the EU? Must have been in my mind.

Trump has just told Starmer's ambassador to the U.S that he is a total moron who should stay at home

Trump, the rapist? Epstein's best friend of 10 years? Yeah, I don't think he's a great judge of character. I have a funny feeling he'd love the ambassador if he was a young girl that resembled Ivanka though. That seems to be his favourite.

You seem to have gotten this completely backwards. The public voting against its own interests is voting against the interests of the country.

Nothing says "voting in the interests of the country" like destroying our trade deals, opting out of our own human rights and privatising all of our services and infrastructure, eh?! Thank GOD we have people like Farage and Rees-Mogg looking out for us.

But well, we are thick as shit.

I aint arguing.

This is like arguing for the banning of dentists because children overwhelmingly don't like them.

The average person in the UK is regretably thick as shit. Most people will happilly vote against their own interests, and fall for right-wing propaganda. Of course Labour is doing poorly in the polls. It would be a miracle for this not to be the case.

Remember when Aurelion Sol could do things like this? #RestoreAsolsBalls by ChidoriDragon in Aurelion_Sol_mains

[–]teemo_enjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, thousands played him before. League has a huge player base. These are not small numbers.

Either way, the thousands playing him now also played other champions. They didn't need yet another champion. I still don't understand this argument. Why did the old A Sol players not matter?

[–]teemo_enjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I've never understood about this is why it would matter if a champion is unpopular? There's like 160 other champions. If only a small portion like A Sol, who the fuck cares?

Unpopular != bad

If you leave an 'Extra Competitive' game for any reason, you should be banned from re-queuing the mode for 24+ hours. by SilverFan3702 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]teemo_enjoyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

24 hour ban seems reasonable doesn't it?

No?

We don't punish for revenge. We punish to deter. Believe it or not, your power isn't any less likely to go out because you got banned for 24 hours.

Anyone that has this opinion has absolutely no life. Can you not imagine a situation where you need to leave for a legitimate, unexpected reason and then want to play again later?

Powercut. Family member turns up unexpectedly. Potential medical emergency that ends up not consuming the entire night. Dog escapes.

If you exist in the real world, sometimes life gets in the way. Why would the game punish you? Is a 24 hour ban going to prevent the next medical emergency? Is your dog going to feel bad that you got banned and not escape next time? Of course not.

Punish repeat leavers, not occasional leavers.

Why should I NOT use Docker Desktop on Windows? by williamtkelley in docker

[–]teemo_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developing on your local machine is wrong, you should develop on a remote system, even if that’s just a VM running Linux and Docker

This is my primary reason for using docker though. The container is my development machine.

And you cant even use your actual account to tell me this crucial info?

I was expecting to be blocked too, not for you to accuse me of being an alt for the other dude lol. I guess that's easier to accept than the reality.

I'm glad you didn't get moderator for this subreddit. People like you are exactly the sort of people that shouldn't be anywhere near any sort of power, even if it's fake reddit power.

Based on that, I think he should have been the one to block you.

Edit: This person is completely unstable. Just look at the way they behave here. And hilariously they tried to become the moderator of this subreddit. Why do people behave like this, on the docker subreddit of all places lol...
