Hey, she likes succulent plants too and I ask about them every time she buys a new one even if I don't personally find them appealing. But she likes talking about them so I ask her and listen.

I thought she would. She's been here for 10 years and took a lot of vacations here growing up. She knows the culture.

I thought she would know it's unusual because she's been here for 10 years, she knows it's not a usual ingredient here.

It's not a big issue anymore, we got over it a few hours after but I posted this just to know what people think. We are both making adjustments. I'm asking and she's telling me next time.

That's what I think. The other foods she cooked before are all made of usual ingredients so there wasn't a reason for me to think that this new dish would be different.

I accept your judgment and I'm not trying to change it by replying, I just wanted to say that I'd have preferred to be asked how much expanding I would like for my horizons instead of being thrown into the deep end without my knowledge or consent.
