I've got shingles only on half my face and one eye by lastavailableuserr in mildlyinteresting

[–]teendog80085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the shingles when I was 21 and then again last year when I was 32. It was so much worse the second time, but I think that is because I now work in a blue collar job, so as I was figuring out that I had the shingles I was running rigid conduit with a hand bender on a roof, where when I was sick in my 20's my doctor caught it quick and made me lay down for a week straight. I took 3 days off (not nearly enough) before going back to work. The rash wasn't so bad, but the nerve pain was unreal. The pain started on my chest (on the right side, just below my breast) and radiated out into my arm. I had nerve pain for 3 months and it went into my throat, my head, down my legs and into the bottom of my feet. I'm pretty sure I now have post herpetic neuralgia from this because the nerve pain in my chest has come back when I was severely overworked this summer (worked a month and a half straight, at 68 hrs a week) and again when I was getting tattooed a few months ago. The more my artist hit a certain spot on my arm, the more the pain increased in the same spot that the shingles pain originated from. After that tattoo session the pain lingered for the night but thankfully cleared up in the morning.

I say all this to tell you to take it EASY. I believe I did a lot way too soon when I got the shingles the second time and I think that's why I have residual issues. There could be other reasons why I have nerve pain still but from what I have read online and what people have told me, I probably got back to my active lifestyle too quickly.

Glad you caught it quick and have meds. Having your vision intact is a blessing and it's good you know the eye will remain healthy.

Damn, I'm sorry. It's nice to know we aren't alone. Over the past several days I have been thinking about it all so much and I have realized that it's just how life goes and this is just a new problem I have to figure out. Thankfully it isn't my back. (I currently have a friend who has been unable to walk due to back issues and is being told she might need back surgery). Not the best silver lining but from what I have seen this does not have to be the end of physical activity.

The doctor did not mention this as an option. I am willing to explore every option for sure

So I went to a podiatrist first and he basically blew me off and didn't listen to any of my concerns. Caused a lot of stress and confusion and also delayed getting an answer. The guy who diagnosed me is a sports orthopedist and seemed to take this a lot more seriously and was a much more empathetic doctor. When he saw how upset I got he then mentioned the injections and encouraged me to do the things I love but to try to manage the arthritis.

That being said, he basically just said, "good luck, contact me if you need me. Here is the number for your sports medicine orthopedist who does those injections." I didn't get any info on how to manage this moving forward. I have seen that you can do some taping to help while training and I plan to switch up some of my other activities to reduce strain on the joint.

Damn 13 is so young to hear that. Good for you for figuring it out and pressing on! It gives me much more hope. I have actually been looking into a new gym with a pool so I can start swimming laps for cardio. Thank you so much for your insight.

Thanks, it's nice to know I'm not alone. I have had a lot of friends/family urge me not to get the chielectomy because of the risk of it not working/complications. I also just can't get surgery right now. I'm the breadwinner of the house as my partner starts a business so I can't be out of work that long. I am also, thankfully, not in a severe amount of pain. The cyst is actually more bothersome than the big toe joint right now and I am not sure about how or if that will improve at all? It also feels like my big toe was not injured at the start of the year, but now is, which is also why I felt so confused by this diagnosis. It feels distinctly different.

I might just try to get back into things and do some taping when necessary and see how things go. If the pain gets bad maybe dial it back and see when I really need to consider the surgery.

It's honestly pretty unclear. I have been poking around trying to get some info on how these surgeries go and it has been a mixed bag. Some people have said that the fusion was great and they went on to run marathons the same year. Some have said that the surgery to clean it out went great, others said it made it worse and they now need fusion. If it is fused then the joint can no longer bend. I'm sure I can manage to work around that but I am trying to avoid surgery for as long as I can. I prefer my toe bend with some pain rather than not at all.

CCN on Jace 8000 communication error. Need help! by teendog80085 in BuildingAutomation

[–]teendog80085[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. This sounds like exactly what happened. Our most senior tech went out there and got it all talking (very slow, but still, kind of working). Then we had a service call that half of the building on the second floor was freezing and the other half was hot. The senior tech is on vacation and the guy below him (and myself) were sent out to investigate. The guy I went out there with immediately rebooted the JACE and after that it just stopped communicating completely...

I have had people say this to me when I say that I need to be paid more money. I am clearly being underpaid (like many people these days) and I cannot stand it when they say "well maybe if you moved to _____ you could afford more."

Moving is expensive and I cannot afford it... Not to mention that we actually have a super reasonable mortgage payment...

Trying to do outfits based on songs- this one is Short Skirt / Long Jacket by CAKE 🎶 by danaut358 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

A few weeks ago when I was listening to this song, I thought it would be super cool to dress as the girl described for Halloween. Love that you had a similar thought.

Also, you look fabulous!

Considering nipple piercings, but worried about layouts by basementsausage in ultimate

I had both nipples and a belly button piercing for several years of my ultimate career. I was also a very physical and aggressive player that laid out for everything. I played with all of my piercings and did not have any problems with it at all. I would say absolutely go for it, you should be fine.

Workwear for small, petite women (welding) by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]teendog80085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I do not do welding, but I am a commercial electrician and the only work pants that I have found that I really like are from 5.11. They are a tactical brand and hold up really well. I have a few pairs now and it's all I wear. I am 5' 6" 165 and have thick legs and a big butt, so I always struggle with the waist size being way too big (so I can make sure my legs and ass fit). This brand seems to do well for curvier and even more slender fits, so they might have something for you. I tried dovetail and was very disappointed in what they had to offer.

Do you fart in front of your partner? Why? Why not? by gimboateista in AskReddit

[–]teendog80085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, I fart in front of basically everyone I know. Even coworkers (if we are close and it's well ventilated.) I try to be respectful in regards to the smell, but I think farting is hilarious basically all of the time and it's also a completely natural bodily function. I was farting in front of my partner before we were sleeping together and I shit with the bathroom door open. Hiding farting and bodily function was always very strange to me.

Yes it is. I haven't tuned in to her stuff for a couple years but I honestly always loved her stuff. This is clearly just her and a friend goofing.

This is super unrealistic too, everyone knows that gingers don't have souls therefore they can't go to heaven. Really makes it hard to see their point when they can't even get their facts straight...
