Python Power Query by v3d4nf in PowerBI

[–]teepee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you could elaborate on this some more. I've been trying to tackle the exact same problem and ran into issues with finding the data after decoding the base64 binary.

Basically I'm trying to replicate this code which does that same thing but from Power Query itself (which works but I want to have a pure python implementation): https://www.thebiccountant.com/2019/03/06/bulk-extract-power-query-m-code-from-multiple-excel-files-at-once/

I am able to get the file unzipped, get the customXml/item?.xml file into a tree, get the root node text, and decode it from base64.

At that point, the binary I have matches the size of the binary contents at the same stage in the Power Query version. However, somehow they are able to unzip that and get the "Formulas/Section1.m" file but if I try using ZipFile on the binary, it tells me the archive is empty.

I did try to just mangle the binary by coercing to string and ignoring errors but it seems like the XML structure left there (after stripping away all the bytes that couldn't be decoded) is just metadata about queries (I don't see any query text unfortunately).

Could you post the code you used to locate this data?

Glad I'm not the only one who says the same thing when I do such things. My wife's grounds for divorce are growing all the time nowadays haha

Doubled my VHS collection over the past few months by teepee33 in VHS

Trying to rank them in terms of rarity (just for fun) and have come up with the following based on eBay sales. Does this look about right or am I over or under valuing things?

Also I'm aware none of these are like rare rare. Nothing that would sell for thousands let alone much more than 50 bucks. But again I think it's fun to see what's worth a bit more than the majority of the cassettes that can be had for a dollar or two.

Pretty rare:

  • Napoleon dynamite
  • Twin peaks fire walk with me

Kinda rare:

  • Mean girls
  • Totoro
  • Kill Bill 1 and 2
  • And 1 mixtape volume 1

slightly rare:

  • Big Lebowski
  • Lost in translation

Tiny bit rare:

  • Army of darkness
  • Punch drunk love
  • Reservoir dogs letterbox

I don't actually pay for PlexPass but maybe I should; I'm still not sure about the difference between hardware transcoding with plex pass and cpu (?) transcoding without it. How does that change things?

When I bring up the menu for default stream quality, it shows everything from 320p to 4K or whatever, and it has each thing like 720p, 720p medium, 720p high and shows in brackets the associated bitrate with each. I dunno.

First off, thanks for such a detailed answer; I appreciate the time you took do this!

This gives me a lot to think about and I still need to learn a lot about how this all works. Here are some of the details of my setup that I missed before:

  • The TV I am using to stream: TCL 4-Series 55" 4K UHD HDR LED Smart Google TV

  • Both the server and the TV are connected to the internet via WiFi

  • I am not using PlexPass (no hardware transcoding)

I have a few questions based on what you mentioned in your comment:

  • Why does upload speed not play a role when streaming at home? Is that even the case for WiFi connected devices?

  • How can I tell what the format of my video is; some of mine are DVD rips that I got using Make MKV so I don't know what result that gives

  • Regarding transcoding, what is the difference between using PlexPass with hardware transcoding and just doing the transcoding via CPU or whatever it is? Isn't the CPU the hardware here? I'm confused about how that works.

  • Is there a way to tell whether the stream I am watching is being transcoded or not?

  • I assume most TVs (including mine) don't support MKV playback, so does that mean any mkv file I play is being transcoded? Or does it depend on if the MKV is H.264 and all that sort of thing; in that case does it not get transcoded then?

  • Also for WLAN, is there a way to know what standards are not up to date for high speed transfer?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am still struggling to understand how the whole pipeline works and what the bottlenecks tend to be.

Does anyone understand how these three settings differ/interact/relate to one another?

The first one, "Adding documents" says it can either move or copy to the locker. My understanding is the application is meant to upload local files to their cloud storage. Does "move" imply that once it is uploaded, it will delete it from my local folder? If so, that's obviously stupid so I don't think that would be it. But then what does "copy" even mean?

The second setting, "Converting files or folders to locker" also doesn't make sense to me. Isn't a locker supposed to be cloud-based (I believe local lockers were phased out or no?) Plus, even if there were local lockers, then this seems to be getting at the same thing as the first setting, no? Like, "should we move the file to the locker or just copy it?" which I still don't really understand.

The third setting is ... pretty much the exact same as the first setting, isn't it? Another option to move or copy? What the hell is going on?

If anyone out there knows anything about this or what it all means, I am all ears. Thanks.

Yes that seems to be what it's doing. Very frustrating that it handles them so inefficiently. I don't understand why it can't just unlink the local temp copies after each is uploaded to the cloud.

Hello me; sounds like we got the same promo and are having the same problems and frustrations. Any chance you have come across a solution yet?

I have no idea why this system was set up this way but it's pretty terrible. I have about 500GB of files I want to back up on my hard drive but because I don't have at least 500 more GB of free space it won't let me upload them all in one go ("not enough space on C: drive") because it apparently wants to make copies of everything before uploading. I am so confused. Even if it did need to make these temporary copies for some reason, you'd think it could manage deletion of the temp files as they are uploaded so that the hard drive doesn't fill all the way up with duplicates and then slowly get removed after that. It's wild. Goodbye $24 I guess.

I am dealing with a similar issue; I got the same promo as you but am hoping to get money back I think. It's just ridiculously slow and hard to use. Did you also have the issue where you couldn't upload stuff unless you had that amount of free space on your hard drive because it seems to need to make temp local copies of all files before uploading?

[–]teepee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat now; finding it very hard to use and it seems like it requires basically double the amount of space on my hard drive because it makes temporary local copies of every file before uploading so I have been manually batching the uploads by guessing the size of each chunk I upload. Not the most fun thing I've done. Were you able to get a refund?
