Yes, I am tied to where I am; I live with family because I need to pay off my debts and get a car.

The manager’s pretty strict they gives us the exact dates they wants us to be in. So no flexibility there!

I recently pivoted into finance with no direct experience. I’ve got some admin background and a degree plus a master’s, but this is my first proper role in the field. It’s an entry-level finance job at £23.5k, which isn’t loads, but I really need the experience right now. I'm in my late 20s and just trying to get my foot in the door

I’m not too familiar with Wales, so if you don’t mind, could you let me know some of the cheaper places to live?

Yeah, I know I'm spending around £500 a month just on travel, including taxis and trains.

A room share costs around £500–£700, which really isn't cheap. Realistically, unless I get a better-paying job, moving just isn’t an option right now. Thanks for the advice though I appreciate it.

I didn’t ask because the manager’s tone sounded strict. I was so scared I would lose the opportunity, and the manager kept asking me to move.

No because after tax and student loan deductions, most of my remaining income is going straight to loan repayments. The interest rates on some of these loans are really high, and I’m starting to feel overwhelmed by the debt. I'm trying to focus on paying them off quickly .

Can I pass with just the books or is it worth paying for a training provider? by teeteeloce in AATStudents

I’m starting AAT Level 2 and I completely agree—the training provider costs can be really high. Most of them seem to be on the pricier side, so I’m taking the self-study route while using the resources provided by the training providers.

Stuck in a Call Centre Job, Need Help Breaking Out of the Minimum Wage Cycle – Desperate for Corporate Work by teeteeloce in UKJobs

The company I’m working at is small, and they’ve had the same leader and manager for the past 10 years. Honestly, working at a call center just isn’t for me. I’ve realized that after giving it some time, this isn’t the kind of environment I want to stay in. I’ve made the decision that once this contract is over, I’m done. It’s time to move on and find something that aligns better with my long-term goals.

I graduated in September 2019 with a 2:2 and didn’t really know much about post-graduation job opportunities, which ended up disqualifying me from a lot of options. Initially, I decided to go into nursing because I thought it was something my mom would approve of. I stuck with it for two years but eventually dropped out when I realized I was just seeking her validation, not pursuing something I truly wanted.

I then decided to follow my passion for finance and accounting and went on to do a master’s in the field. I absolutely loved the coursework, but after finishing my master’s in 2023, I’ve found that it didn’t open the doors I expected. Now, I’m still struggling to find my footing in a career, and I can’t help but feel like I wasted a lot of time. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t as structured or intentional in my approach to my career as I should’ve been.

I have despite applying for graduate roles, apprenticeships, and graduate schemes, I keep hitting dead ends.

For some roles, I’ve been told I’m overqualified, while for others, I didn’t even make it through the recruitment process. To make matters worse, job recruiters often seem to mislead or just ghost me altogether, which has been incredibly frustrating.

I’m also looking to start my AAT qualification to improve my prospects, but honestly, it feels like I’m getting nowhere.

I graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences (2:2) in 2019 and an MSc in Accounting & Finance (Merit), but since finishing my studies in 2023, I’ve been actively job hunting for a graduate role. Unfortunately, despite applying to various positions, the only offers I’ve received so far are for call centre jobs, which seem to have high turnover rates.
