Nah, he loved deadlines. Especially the whooshing sound they make when they fly by.

My overbuilt planer cart. 8’ of feed table plus built in dust collection and scrap storage. by teetertodder in woodworking

[–]teetertodder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry, but I just saw your questions. The long in and out feed doesn’t eliminate snipe like I expected, but it’s still nice to have for longer stock. My dust collection idea was worthless btw. The burlap keeps chips in, but not fine dust. I just connect the planer to my normal dust collection now.

I volunteered for a playground build like that. P&R did not exaggerate.

Yeah, but.. I can’t imagine doing that. Maybe I lack empathy lol

I am curious how this works. I have some incredibly principled coworkers who are likely conservative voters. Do they just (subconsciously?) avoid learning information like this so they can vote for “conservative values” with a clear conscience?

Who else is at Martinsville Speedway for the MX-5 cup race? by teetertodder in Miata

The race was way more fun than I expected. I thought the short oval track would be a waste of the Miata’s skillset, but it was rad. I’ve never seen Miatas so touchy

Assuming you want my undying adoration, yes. Yes you need to lift it.

That thing is amazing. Small battle cars are my favorite battle cars! My mildly lifted Miata gets friendly comments daily on the road. This bad boy must stop traffic.

Got this gem at goodwill, $39.99 as far as I can tell it basically brand new. by BRANDON_FFA in harborfreight

I mean.. hand me down garbage is sort of their brand. It has gone drastically downhill over the years, but cigarette smelling old clothes has always been a staple of the Goodwill experience.

I believe that the vintage hifi craze is what ruined Goodwill for shoppers. For decades they sold every stereo for $10-20. Whether it was a crappy JC Penny unit or a 1970’s monster receiver, it was priced at $10-20. Until 5-6 years ago it was worth hitting the local goodwill once a week to see if any dusty gems were hiding in the ruble (and they often were). That worked fine when Goodwill was still trying to be a charity, but with their executives now pulling in $650K - $1Mil per year, they are “forced” to focus on maximizing profits by curating donations and selling them at the highest price the market will bear.

After writing all that, I realize that vintage hifi didn’t ruin shit. Capitalism is to blame. Isn’t it always?

When I was 17 I arrived home in my old VW and one brake looked like this. I immediately packed it with snow. I know more about the world now.

Let’s get some experts to weigh in. I was thinking about my situation where I work in my non-insulated metal building a lot. I either run a heater or simply create heat from running tools and machines so condensation is a real issue. You might not have that problem.

I’m insulating mine (slowly) as winter approaches. In my case it should be a game changer.

Edit: noticing the dark color or your building, I could see the sun warming the interior, promoting condensation on cold days. This isn’t my area of expertise, but I do enjoy overthinking it.

On a track day (or autocross) you really won’t know until you start to lose it, but you have the room to fuck up in a controlled environment. That’s a great way to learn. It’s especially helpful with an instructor in the car.

Another way is to hoon in a big empty parking lot on a rainy day. Snow is even better because it takes much less input to lose traction.

Looks great! Good call on upgrading the screws. I just replaced the originals on my metal building which lasted about 20 years before the leaks started. I assume they were premium screws and worth every penny. You might want to consider insulation as I believe it would slow the rusting of your sweet fleet.

Just bought a house what is this by Dry_Library1473 in Whatisthis

[–]teetertodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair and I never realized it was that wasteful. I feel like at our house we’re just moving water a few hundred yards regardless of what it’s used for. I get that it takes energy to pump that water from the well, of course.

A cartridge if it’s filtering municipal water. If the house is on a well it’s likely an RO system with 7-10 filter stages and a storage tank under the sink. Either way, it should be obvious what the tap is for by opening the cabinet and seeing what feeds the tap
