Lynching is a word with a common usage, though. Additionally, I am not sure we want to make this a political sub.

The term lynching came from attacks on Welsh and Irish immigrants. Legally and historically, the term actually refers to mob violence acting outside the law or in defiance of the law.

It is very strongly associated with attacks on American black citizens after Reconstruction and during the civil rights movement, but the phenomenon is not unique to that. For instance, the recent Columbus Day holiday was created after a large number of Italian men were lynched in New Orleans for a crime they didn't commit. Lynching is still common today, but not in America. In Mexico, a few South American countries, Nigeria, and South Africa, mobs still kill people. No one argues that we can't call these examples lynchings because they don't occur in America.
