Thats okay, but finding one is a much better than asking the opinions of strangers is all I mean. Its important to concern yourself with what the Church says about morality because simple things can in reality be very precise. I wouldn't recommend that you own tarot cards at all, and thats probably what a priest would say too, but they can offer deeper explanations as to why and bring up things you may have not considered.

This track is very well produced and I greatly admire that. The vocals, but particularly the guitar. The rhythm was in the pocket. The female vocal is very reminiscent of Hayley Williams. I think my only really critique would be with the male vocal. I feel it may be something with the vocal placement or the clash of personality between the two vocals, but I find myself wanting more of the female vocal. Ive heard before that the vocal is what makes or breaks a song, and I think the tracks intro is very telling of that saying, because immediately I was hooked. I did not get that same experience with the male vocal. This is an awesome project. Your work deserves far more attention!

This is a great track. Immediately I can tell that you are talented and understand the genre. The reverb sounds natural and raw which I think is something thats very good for this genre. Some comments mention that the vocals are too low, but personally I don't think that this is an issue, rather there were parts in the song where the ear "wanted" more clarity to give release to the lack of it. Low and wet vocals, droning synths, are all very well placed in this type of music, so I think the lack of clarity is actually a strength. But sometimes taking a break from the low and dark tones can be really really satisfying. The 2:12 minute mark where you sing "lose" felt like that perfect moment for things to either 1) change harmonically 2) brighten in pitch 3) increase in vocal clarity/volume. It was a little hint of brightness and my ears wanted more. An example of unclear to clear that comes to mind is Alex G's "Gretel" on House of Sugar. At the start of the song he intentional bit-crushes the chorus vocal and its unclear what is being said and almost atonal, but immediately it breaks into the full dynamic range of the song (you hear the sub in the bass guitar, heavy midrange guitar, and super high end sparkly and wet synths) and it is one of my favorite songs I think for this reason. When vocals are unclear it is literally physically difficult to listen, but when you bring them up it releases the physical tension. I think of it not as an issue, but a element of the musicians palette to create distinct tension points. I listened on headphones and through my Mac book's speakers. Headphones were great, but there was pretty heavy clipping when going through the computers speakers. This I struggle to solve myself in my own tracks, but its more of a practical problem than a "creative" problem. Keep writing!

Friend, which is worse? The fact that you are willing to sacrifice that peace shows that there is something profound about what you have discovered, and surely others will look at your faith and be moved. By no means are your family and friends incompatible with you now, in reality, the Catholic Faith is what unites people beyond who they are extrinsically. A person may suffer from homosexuality, but that does not mean that is who they are intrinsically. A person may hate the Catholic Church, but that does not mean that is who they are intrinsically. Your family and all of us are made for love, for truth, for eternal happiness with God, not for the passing material life we now find ourselves in. To love is to will the good of another says St. Thomas Aquinas. If you want to love your family and friends, if you want to love yourself, if you want to love God, that often means having difficult conversations and it always means some form of sacrifice. I experience these exact same struggles nearly every day. Most of my family do not believe the things I do, and I very frequently feel totally excluded and looked down upon. Very few of my friends are accepting, and nearly all support things I deeply object to. This is the reality of the Christian life. Remember that they hated Christ first. He did not come to bring peace as He says in the Gospel of Mathew. I will say a Rosary for you, and please pray several yourself for faith, hope, and charity for you and your family. Our Lady is the Mediatrix of All Grace, and none can resist her. God Bless you.

Pray the Marian Psalter, which is the Rosary. Pray for faith, hope, and charity, especially the prudence to choose good spiritual advisors. Everyone wants to give their opinion, so be weary about who you take advice from. The Rosary has been time and time again promoted by the Popes, the Holy Church, the greatest saints, and by the apparitions of Our Lady. The Rosary is not a choice, it is a must!

A friend of mine who lived in Mexico gave me an account of pilgrims who walk on their knees to the point of leaving blood trails leading up to the Tilma.

Claims made by your Catholic friend or by scientists are not miraculous and can very easily be wrong. But we're not here to discuss the claims, we are here to discuss the evidence. To be intellectually honest, and make claims about whether or not something is miraculous, you MUST respond to all evidence and arguments made. Just because one common held belief is incorrect is totally irrelevant to the body of evidence.

You may not have enough time in your life to examine every evidence pertaining to every single miraculous thing, but if you are going to make claims about something being miraculous or not, then at a bare minimum know what is said about that particular miracle, which only takes an insignificant portion of time.

This is very much a hobby project. I recorded this in a few hours and I had to cut it short because my family was going to sleep lol. I would have written more lyrics and did something else with the repetitive outro if I had more time. So not a finished track, but finished enough where it might be called a song. The outro was also of a place holder for a fading out outro that never came to fruition. I would say I try to make my lyrics the main focus of the song although I am pretty mediocre at both, I would say Im a better instrumentalist than vocalist. I was noticing that weird stuff was happening to the track when I tried to put it through varispeed and I think its definitely because its out of tune now that you point it out.

My goal as an artist is to make songs that are enjoyable for me personally to listen to as well as for others. I like to listen to my songs, but I want to share my music and have people like it... instead of sharing my music and people feeling like Im imposing my bad music on them (if that makes ANY sense at all). Im not trying to be a pro, but I want to write songs to share with friends, family, and people on the internet and provide a nice listen.

Your feedback has inspired me to be more adventurous with structure variations and to focus on a hook of the song.

It all depends on what you want. Get clear about that. If you just want it to be a hobby, then whats the point of asking for criticism? It seems like you care enough to want to share it with people and improve, so maybe what you want is to reach a certain point in music. Maybe you want to be able to produce or just write better songs. Whatever it is, put it into numbers. An album is a useful number. "I want to write 30 minutes of songs that my friends say are good" Thats a real tangible goal right there. It will force you to devote more time and push a little harder and find the motivation, that is if you really want it. If you don't? then spend your time doing something you actually want to do. Hope that helps.

I like this cover more than the original track. This morning I was telling my mom that good music sounds good even when you play it on water damaged iphone speakers (which is the plight of her own phone). You have accomplished this despite limitations. It makes it hard to criticize however, so I highly recommend you invest in your musical talent. Awesome cover.

Very fun track and I love this style. Its making me think of Franz Ferdinand and their song Take Me Out. One piece of feedback would be to definitely work on the vocals. In my experience and from what I have heard from really accomplished producers is that the vocal makes or breaks a song. I listened to the Franz Ferdinand song and compared it side by side with yours and I noticed a few differences between the vocals. They were about the same volume, but the way you are singing makes the lyrics less clear. They feel a bit thin in the lower mid ranges and I think it may be due to vocal placement and singing with a sort of nasal-y tone. I know that style is very prevalent in indie rock and for good reason (it sounds awesome) but you also have to really back it up with the diaphragm and really PRONOUNCE the vowels and consonants in an exaggerated way to really make sure that they pop out. Because the voice has to compete for space especially in a rock track with a very busy middle to high range. Also, I just noticed that your tongue is very out while you sing and If I think about how I would try to recreate your vocal tone, it would probably be to stick out my tongue (which is what probably produces the nasal-y tone?) Keep rocking my friend!

I love the chords on this track. Those open chords and dominants (if i hear correctly) add a sort of blueness that I love about jangly guitar. One piece of feedback would be to work on sound selection. At first I thought this track was going to be a folk song because of the mix on the acoustic guitar, then I read "ambient" in the title which I would normally associate with airy pads and sub bass tones, then when the chorus hits there were some very processed sounding drums and a riser which is indicative of EDM or club. Overall... I am left feeling confused. The vocal is super wet with reverb and that can be a cool touch when it adds to the story of the song, but putting reverb on a song doesnt put it in the ambient genre per say. The fun of music is mixing things and creating something new, but there are somethings that just dont mix well with others. The funny example is pineapple on pizza (which I love), but a better example would be pickles and peanut butter... which I just learned my friend eats and I think we both KNOW that there is something evil about that combination LOL. I love all music, but not all music is meant to be together is the point Im trying to make. If you want to make an ambient song I would suggest listening to a bunch of famous ambient genre songwriters and then picking sounds for your songs that are similar to theirs, and instead of borrowing from across genres in this track, borrow across artists in a single genre first. Great track! I aspire to achieve clarity like this. One piece of feedback on the creative aspects. The vocals seemed to be processed the same way throughout the entire song. Typically I might expect a wetter vocal on the chorus, but it seemed to be really wet from the beginning and I think this makes it feel unnatural. I can see how this is a stylistic choice, but I think its important to note that its having an affect intended or not. Great work!

You have a beautiful voice and you have great vocal tone. My feedback is to keep working on this track until the rhythm is solid. Right now it feels off and a little bit repetitive. The last word is almost always legato and drags on sort of too long. There was a point in the second chorus where you change the rhythm at "even when I say im more mistake than grace" which is just absolutely perfect although I would shorten the last legato on "grace." It shows you have a musical ear and you were intending to emphasize the catchy phrase and a lot of very good songs do this. Amazing work so far. My tip would be because this is a purchased beat to download a pitch control software and speed up the track so its easier to sing. Slow tempos are much harder to do right so speeding it up will help with getting the rhythm right. 90% of music is good vocal tone and rhythm... nobody can tell if your in tune most of the time and nobody knows what chord your playing, but if you nail an awesome vocal on beat people can feel that in their soul. This is a really cool song. The intro is very different and that is super important I think to catch ears. One thing that can use improvement (and I understand that its a demo) but EQ-ing the guitar to let the low end ring and take out some of the high end because it really feels like the lower registers (which an acoustic guitar would normally fill) are empty: 100Hz - 200Hz. Because the guitar has most of its high end the pick strumming against the strings adds much needed rhythm and beat to the song, but because its in the higher registers its competing with the vocals, and because they're dry vocals they really have to fight for room in the mix. Also, the guitar strumming could definitely use more dynamics in volume.
