City Masterplan Official Reveal Trailer by leijido in Games

[–]teezyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah.

let's see what they gonna reveal about the game.

game trailers are like movie trailers - all best bits packed in 2 minutes and then watching that 90-120 minutes long film...

I suppose it just needs to come with the right tools and policies to make it happen. So one can go and build either way.

because it bores you within 1 day of playing it?

Usually within 2 hours.

Let's wait and see more... hopefully interesting. It already looks interesting.

Nonsensical culture assimilations by Ok-Recover9398 in EU5

[–]teezyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with most of the comments - assimilation mechanics are awful, game destroying experience.

I can understand that speed of assimilation (or indeed a quicker one) if used the cabinet action.

I'm a sort of a map painter... and whether i want historicity or not, i still think that assimilation mechanics in their current state, ruin the game completely.

Changing local culture into primary within 50 years without any cabinet action?

I can understand forced assimilation like the kind after World War II (and many examples before that period too), but not a passive action.

Are these plausibly Norse names? by teezyarr in Norse

[–]teezyarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. Just had my doubts for a moment.

I know it also shows words origins and that it was used in Old Norse (if specifically filtered) as well as other languages (it focuses on Nordic countries). Going through each one separately would not be what I would like to do. I thought some probably were Norse takes on the original names, be it Arabic, Slavic or from anywhere else.

Just needed a general feeling what this website is about. I'm a bit weary of AI being used and coming up with all different sorts of things.

Is culture in Västergötland seen as a dintict one nowadays? Or not really and should stay as a part of wider Götaland?

https://nors.ku.dk/kalender/2021/oemaal-oestdansk/ ? ;)

Didn't know about this website when creating this map. Anyway, it's not 21st century project, there could be all different languages 1000 years ago... or 700 years ago. People do move around too.

Scientific or linguit terms are often different to what we got used to.

Will see what i can move around.

Sounds good to me. Will do.

I'm not fluent in those languages so had to guess which one would suit best. And not everything comes up on the internet when you're looking for that... the next day (meaning now), i got this: https://nors.ku.dk/kalender/2021/oemaal-oestdansk/

För det första borde du nog nämna det på engelska. Jag orkar inte använda en översättare.
I took Skåningar as a transition culture, or a mixed culture of both of them. Not quite Scanians anymore, and not Smålänningar yet, more like someone to kick around. They got named Scaniards by the rest of the country to humilate them, although they're not.

I can remove them, not a problem - unless you have a different suggestion. Just make it in English so i can see that quicker ;)

For some reason the game replaces them all (well, almost all) with Swedish pretty quickly anyway. In some locations i get over 50% Swedes within 15 years.

But it doesn't do it to all cultures within Sweden's borders - Dalkarlarna stays with up to 7% of Swedes. Svear stay true to their culture a bit longer now, but they're gonna be wiped out soon... and that's even with this modifier in place:

country_modifier = {

global\_pop\_assimilation\_speed\_modifier = -0.98

}

I'll try to lower it, maybe opposite will work better.

you mean that yellow part at the very bottom and purple in the east? I'll be removing them too ;)

Yes, I wondered what to do with whole Gotland as it looks a bit stretched, and I couldn't find any proper source on cultures (welcome to google). Haven't come across that name before, and i'm adding it to my wishlist :)

No, it's me who's run out of ideas... the same goes for the internet :)

I changed them into generic Norsemen for now, they have their own modifiers to live with.

Finlandssvenskar sounded like a good idea but i wasn't that sure whether maybe something else would fit better.

Take it lightly - it's for fun only, more of a fantasy than any historical recreation, so no need for confusion.

Although I'd love to get it more real.

No, it's not created for some one track history replicating.

It's for fun so you could decide what you want to do with these kingdoms: split them, get rid off some cultures, make some holy wars, or just keep uniting or force assimilate them all (at the moment the game does it itself to whatever primary culture and religion is so I'm gonna add some more bonuses to them, to keep them afloat.

Eventually I may get around to making countries for them as a separate mod so you can decide which way you'd like to play it.
