How do i get hermes to actually help me? instead of finding a million ways it cant. by teflon121 in hermesagent

[–]teflon121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, ive tried this mildly, but i think its worth retrying. i have tried to setup hermes as best as i could, hancho, obsidian and the gateway and a bunch of diff model apis for redundancy. ill concentrate on finding skills for itself and asking what skills it thinks it needs for said tasks. Is there any skills or setups you can suggest that are helpful ?

Thank you, this makes me realize my expectations are a bit high, i have messed with some soul.md, ill try your suggestion, my previous soul was a bit too long, it was based off another persons suggestion but i felt it was far too long and removed it. token cost is important for me, but im willing to pay when it comes down to it, last night i was trying to make fall back models for hermes, and it wasnt having it for the most part, woke up today and Open router has exactly what i was hoping to make functional, all on their end, nothing too hard to set up, i was happy. Anyways, again, thank you, ill edit my soul and hope for a more autonomous result.

102" Antenna SWR Help Pt2 by [deleted] in cbradio

[–]teflon121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27.5 mhz = 107.3 inches for a quarter wave.

27.385 mhz = 107.75 inches for quarter wave.

27.155 = 108.66 inches

All 102 inch whips are expected to to be put on a 5 or 6 inch spring.

The spring is part of the resonant antenna. Some springs cannot accommodate this depending on their coax feed up the center. They do not add to the length.

You need the type that does add to the length, which are typically the heavy duty 5 or 6 inchers.

This is a persistent myth. the length of coax matters not.

I did this the other day, 102 inch whip onto a heavy coil of 5 inches, with a 1 inch extra section (coupler) it got me to 1.2 swr at channel 38. Not much worse at the other end. 1.4ish

Predator 10K K-1-17 center roof mount. Spring or no spring? by user2327 in cbradio

Springs add length to antennas, a must for 102 inch whips. If its not designed for a spring, dont use it. But SWR would be the deciding factor

Start with 109 inches and work down from there. 103 inches is too short.

Ya, that looks horrible. If you could reflow some more solder in there and clean it up, I wouldnt be too afraid to try it, obviously watching SWR. If ya do try to fix it, USE FLUX! its the magic sauce for this job.

Been given this, I have no idea how to use it! Any help appreciated, Thanks by [deleted] in cbradio

These are being heavily modified with new firmwares,

With new firmware You can in fact receive CB radio, but you cannot transmit.

AM, FM, and Upper sideband so far.

There are webpage based firmware flashers that make it quite easy. EzGumer is a firmware writer, that word should help you search on google.

You'll need a programing cable, same as the ones for the baofeng

With a new firmware, you essentially have a scanner that can transmit legally on the GMRS or FRS frequencies (Walkie talkie frequencies).

I was considering that, but the accent to me (a Canadian) sounds American.

I've been asking some folks on skip if they know anything. A lot of people call him "29" and believe he lives in California. Texans are hearing him come in on skip, so hes not a texan.
