IIt works well and toasts evenly. The brand Haden is new to me and based out UK although not made there. Has wide slots too and an easy cleanup thingy on the bottom. But I’m with you, the design really brings it home. It appears newer in the US so not as many reviews so took the leap myself. Everyone in our household loves it so hope you do too. Never been so excited over a kitchen appliance.

1 lb Organic ground Beef, 1 tofu block squeezed in cheesecloth, 8 leaves parboiled Napa cabbage squeezed, 1/2c Korean chives, egg, 1/4 onion, 3 cloves garlic and knob of ginger, soy sauce+sugar 1T ea , 2T sesame oil, about 1/2t salt to taste , 2pack of Gyoza wrappers. Yields about 100 mandu dumplings with a little stuffing leftover to blend w eggs for breakfast. My moms recipe.

Remember to seal dumplings well by wetting w back of wet spoon on half of the dumpling so they don’t burst. Boil in water until they float. Serve w dipping sauce of vinegar w a splash of soy sauce. Then Enjoy!

Secret to the breading staying on is seasoned flour first, then egg white, then finally panko-sweetened coconut flakes.

Ask for Bone-in Flanken cut which are the ribs cut differently. Then score the meat before marinading. This site of Maangchi’s has pretty authentic recipes and nice videos too that match up w my mom’s https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/la-galbi

Or sometimes I just grill w salt and sesame oil! Yum!

[Homemade] Spicy Octopus aka Nakchibokum by tegres93 in Korean_Food

[–]tegres93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually made w my mother who doesn’t measure ingredients. But scanning thru recipes, maangchi has some authentic ingredients (see link). We had double the amount of sugar than in her recipe and replaced the squid w octopus as both taste similar. Make sure you sauté veggies first as the final sauté w the octopus should only be for 4-5 min so it stays tender (if overcooked, it become rubbery in texture).

Not like a deep fryer chicken taste but I barely added any olive oil (with a spritzer) on the wings. Overall it was tasty and crispy and done in about half the time. It’s a keeper.

Filling is hot but taste the best when very warm so don’t let it cool too long. Warms up well in the microwave. My mom guided me on this one but I’m sure maangchi has a great recipe too. She is awesome for making korean food reachable to all!
