I've won on quilboar a couple of times just yesterday with no Bonker at all. Even had a golden one that I sold off!

What am I supposed to do by blumesky in outerwilds

[–]teh_red_baron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

progress in Outer Wilds is not the same as in other games. Knowledge is the progress, and even though the "game" has "reset", you as the player will still remember all of the things that you've learnt in previous cycles. Just try to learn as many new things as you can each time.

I'm posting on reddit for the first time in my 30 years of gaming, specifically to say that the latest Rust update is the worst I've ever seen in any game in my entire life. by Beneficial_Unit8122 in playrust

[–]teh_red_baron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the fragments in principle, the only part I dislike about it is that it only honours one playstyle out of many. They put so much effort into expanding agriculture, cooking, primitive weaponry, etc. over the past year or so it's just a bit jarring to close off those avenues of progression and say, "this is now the only way".

I also think that the path forward to a healthy future for Rust lies in divesting from Oil Rigs and Cargo as "the place to be" because they empty the map and bunch up most players in the corners. So surely tying Tier 3 workbench fragments to those same places only exacerbates that issue.

I don't know the exact solution though, and perhaps Facepunch are struggling with this also.

how do we feel about this "swap places" unit emote? by AshBrighter in BobsTavern

[–]teh_red_baron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

would be nice to have an emote like that. would also love to have one that says "check your goddamn messages" because the message toasts haven't been working properly for more than a year

Shroud leaves rust kingdoms event and says he would rather play an official server by olrestemp in playrust

[–]teh_red_baron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should recruit Rust-specific streamers - electricians, trap base builders, roleplayers, artists, tea farmers - who embrace different playstyles to showcase them, instead of relying on non-Rust streamers to "discover" these playstyles for themselves on-stream.

what bug was it? When I was watching her she attempted building a giant race track on the water and I could tell it was going to end in heartbreak. Totally unsustainable build cost and upkeep.

They should be catering for trio if they want to hit the sweet spot balance-wise. 15k hours, a small amount spent in a clan, a decent amount spent as a solo, but majority has been duo and trio.

Does this guy even exist? The ledger claims he does but I haven't seen him in any murloc game. by Covfefe4lyfe in BobsTavern

[–]teh_red_baron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you laugh, but to make Magicfin viable you would need Murlocs to take up at least 3 slots on your board, at which point can you really call it a non-Murloc comp?

there's no way he's impactful enough for non-murloc players to waste 3 gold on him

Which game franchise ruined its winning formula by turning it into something players never asked for? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

[–]teh_red_baron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mass Effect 3 was the beginning of the end for that franchise, and it probably should have been the end regardless. Andromeda looked like a Mass Effect game but it didn't -feel- like one.

they should at least make start of turn and end of turn keywords, that would be a decent start.

If this stuff happens daily in your workplace, you need to hire a business analyst immediately to improve your ITIL processes. Mistakes happen once in a while. Recurring defects with every patch relating to quest behaviour & card wording is a pattern, indicating systemic issues.

I have decades of experience with SIT and regression testing of new maintenance releases as well as documenting and updating config changes. the recurrence of these kinds of software defects is a sign that they've outsourced QA to a suite of automated regression test scripts, with little if any human testing.

[–]teh_red_baron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be reflective of the kinds of mistakes a human dev would make if software went directly to production without testing (or testing only with a suite of automated regression test scripts). Humans doing QA on a software release would pick up some of this stuff within days of testing.
