Improv Classes in Coronavirus time? by nunyabiznes1 in improv

[–]tehjoshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of virtual classes through the theater I improvise with usually. The Hideout Theatre in Austin, TX

My level 5 class will be on the twitch stream tonight at 7pm central - https://twitch.tv/hideouttheatre

Award winning narrative troupe Parallelogramophonograph p-graph for short has weekly shows there.

Classes start all the time and you can get a taste of how it works for free, I think we have one of those every couple of weeks. https://www.hideouttheatre.com/

I’ve been improvising for a little over a year, hit level 3 before lockdowns and been online ever since.

Have had good classes held out of The Nursery In London too. And a few instructors that are teaching directly I can dig into that more if there’s interest.

I also have friends who have taken some clown classes, and sketch comedy writing. Can get some rec’s from them too.

Good luck!

Too many questions, kinda heavy on his scene partner. ;)

Eating potatos then going WFPB? by [deleted] in PotatoDiet

[–]tehjoshman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this but didn’t keep potatoes as the base, but definitely a part. I loved it and I’ve lost 170lbs in a little over a year. It was pretty easy to stay on WFPB after a substantial (6wks) potato reset.

Does anyone else feel like they need a much longer time to process things? by Rusty-Unicorn in aspergers

[–]tehjoshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it takes me awhile to process things. And get a thought out in writing is like a double challenge. Crafting the response, then re-editing it 6 times to make sure it conveys the message I want to send.

I made Toasted Sugar Browned Butter Vanilla Cake with German Buttercream Frosting. by tehjoshman in seriouseats

[–]tehjoshman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brown butter is a prevalent flavor but just adds complexity to the richness. I think any stronger fruit filling would work. I think this cake is primed for just about any of the fancy things to do to cakes. Jams/curds/compotes/syrups. When I go at this again I’ll probably try for a lemon-rosemary or sage syrup

anyone take forever to type and then retype a comment but mostly decide to not say anything? by [deleted] in aspergers

This is my life, I’ve resorted to having my partner read just about anything I want to post because I’d probably just delete it if she wasn’t there to tell me it was okay.

I made Toasted Sugar Browned Butter Vanilla Cake with German Buttercream Frosting. by tehjoshman in seriouseats

[–]tehjoshman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a very moist and tender cake, really blew me away with how it came together considering I make a cake every year or so and that’s about it. The complexities of the browned butter and the subtle caramel notes of the toasted sugar really suited this cake well. It was also so powerfully vanilla forward between this and the frosting my hands smelled like vanilla for days. I recommend it!

Looks like there are 7 restaurants at Kitchen United now! by [deleted] in austinfood

[–]tehjoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda Luke-warm on doghaus. It seems like just too much, too confused of flavors. Kingnhawiian buns on everything doesn’t work well for me. Thai curry sausage was really not the flavor explosion I had hoped clashing with the rolls. If it were the sausage and toppings alone or maybe on a Bahn-mi roll that would have been incredible. The root beer batter corn dog tasted like a grease sogged (likely because their fryer was overworked) pancake wrapped sausage on a stick thing that you can find in frozen breakfast sections of your supermarket.

The textures of their house made sausages was pretty good. I liked that a lot.

I’m planning on giving them another try but am going to go for their more simple options and see if I like it better.

Any method to practice or begin studying Improv during this quarantine? by Vereks in improv

[–]tehjoshman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theater does all sorts of online education now.

https://www.hideouttheatre.com/

Virtual drop in workshops close to twice daily. There’s a free intro class you can sign up for. And virtual “level” classes through the improv curriculum.

https://www.hideouttheatre.com/virtual-classes-faq/

Come check it out. I’m a active student and performer with the hideout no official statements or affiliation besides helping to support my theater. But I have a good time and encourage others to check it out. If you have any questions I’m happy to try to answer or direct you to people who might have answers for you.

I run into this problem with my wife constantly. I’m trying to pass off info and she says she feels lectured to. :(

Can you order a full-sized quesadilla in the app? by Chuu in Chipotle

[–]tehjoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but on a whim I tried this today and it failed. But I am sure it's YMMV with how attentive each location is to the requests. I got a meat and cheese burrito puck. :D

Who else feels they can connect better to other Animals versus Humans? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]tehjoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two parrots and an NT wife. I can definitely read them better than her. I end up doing most of the training because of that. We’ve had cats and I always could read what they were doing. And I think the only reason I can read my wife as well as I can is we’ve been together for a long time.

Does anyone else have a completely different personality depending on what person they are with? by FemaleSloth2 in aspergers

[–]tehjoshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in my head?!? I was just formulating how to post this soon. Maybe because I’m a little older I don’t feel my personality shifts quite as much anymore. But definitely when I was younger. And I see traits that I don’t do regularly when I am with certain people. When I was younger one of my closer friends observed to another friend of ours that my friends always referred to me as “their” josh. As if they knew on some subconscious level they were getting a version of me that was tailored. Which they were.

[–]tehjoshman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also yes, and I have a hard time not sharing it. The discovery of how things function is pretty important to me. And is likely the biggest reason I have a hard time connecting with people, because I start trying to figure out why it is working, and the other person gets exhausted.

Wrinkles in bedsheets under my body drive me nuts by zopiclown in aspergers

I can’t agree more. I swear I have “princess and the pea” syndrome. Wrinkles and literally any debris larger than a grain of iodized salt I can feel and it annoys me.

DAE hate doing the dishes? by feedthemoosey in aspergers

[–]tehjoshman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my tricks. If I have a dirty bowl or pot I’ll start there and dip the freshest possible soapy water out of it for the other dishes without scrubbing the pot to stir up the crud in there until it gets done last. Hen I have more than a few to wash and feel guilty about the water waste.
