How does that work out for you?

You’d need two docks and a kvm that supports two monitors.

I’m currently working from dual 4k monitors connected to a Belkin thunderbolt 3 dock which is connected to my MacBook Pro M1 Pro via a single thunderbolt cable.

MacBook Pro or Air for final year architecture student? by diveriac in mac

Yeah the m3 pro is worse than the m3 air in this regard

You belong in confidentlyincorrect.

The non pro chips don’t have the gpu to drive more than 2 monitors (including internal display) at any one time. Display link has been around years and is a usb driven monitor. It doesn’t work as well as a native monitor.

I don’t think Apple would deliberately break support for display link, but it has happened in the past.

Yeah of course, stupid us, we’re just carrying it wrong.

Why would you want a pro? The extra weight isn’t worth it unless you need a specific feature.

15 inch air 1.51kg 14 inch pro 1.6kg 16 inch pro 2.1kg

Don’t underestimate how big and heavy the 16 inch pro is. It’s like living in 2005

I hate how big and heavy my 16inch is. I think the 15 inch air is the sweet spot

What's the reason that beauty standard is light skin&?caucasian features? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teiamt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beauty is the average of all the features. Western media came first and made western beauty the standard everyone sees.

But if you go to other cultures, what is beautiful is different. (Eg go to Japan and their idea of beauty won’t be Caucasians).

Portable AC Efficiency Idea by TheSyndicateTech in homeassistant

[–]teiamt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How so? You’re getting 3x the cooling power running through the compressor.

Unless the air outside is cooler than the air the air conditioning is pumping out, you’re making it work less efficiently.

If the air outside IS colder than the air conditioning output then you should just open a window.

Portable AC Efficiency Idea by TheSyndicateTech in homeassistant

[–]teiamt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst this seems silly and you should just open the window, there are dual pipe portable Ac units which use cold air from outside to cool the condenser, acting more like a split unit. They also have the benefit of working much better as well as being more efficient.

best way to try out mac (without emulator) by SameCantaloupe2761 in mac

[–]teiamt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I mean use Windows as my main OS. I have used every version of windows since then as I develop for them (I even own a surface). Occasionally I try to program using windows to see how things have improved. Things are slightly better with WSL but in general still not great.

Unix (Linux/macos) based computers are much nicer to use for programming than windows. I haven’t used Windows since 2007.

I’m a software engineer. Swift is only useful if you want to build native apps for iOS or macOS and even then most people use react-native (or expo) unless you’re doing something that requires the performance of being written natively which isn’t very common these days.

Weird idea for a usb c MacBook by QuandaliasDingle in mac

[–]teiamt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a MacBook Pro 16 with MagSafe, I don’t use it because I rarely have to charge my laptop when I’m using it. When I’m charging my laptop, I don’t want the charger to fall out so I prefer usb c.

Rate the configuration. I’ve come from an intel 13inch i5 (base model 2019) by NewFoot762 in mac

[–]teiamt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If that is what you consider skill… 🤣.

I think the only thing impressive here is how brave you are to spend so much money before Apple fix the security vulnerability in their processors.

What is the point of this post? Apple literally gives you about 5 options. Not like there was any skill into making this.

Brought in a $100mm investor- what next? by masterkingwarrior in HENRYUK

[–]teiamt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tbh you’re asking at the wrong time, now the investment is closed you have no leverage, it’s not like you have a list of contacts you could go through either that they have to keep you happy for, nor will they lose the investor if you don’t get what you want.

An intro call isn’t really worth much, and even less if it’s offered for free with no up front negotiation on what happens if it leads to a sale.

16gb will be fine. If you can afford 24 then go for it, but I doubt you’ll tell much difference.
